Mach II - Problems!!!

Excellent, I have sent him a mail - just waiting for a reply. I can't really afford this, but I can't do without a computer. Maybe one day I will stop breaking things and learn not to play with things I don't understand!

Cheers,

Stocky

Ok, I've been playing some more and the fan error points to one of the fans. I have swapped the leads to each and soldered them so it does actually appear to be targeting one of the fans. But both of the fans seem perfectly operational. They are the standard panaflows, but both contain circuit boards in the back and seem to be powered from an alternating current?? The power straight from the leads is not 12V, so will not power a normal fan!

Has anyone actually changed these successfully? I heard it was a good mod to do, but can't remember where from. I dont want to buy a new control board if it isnt actually the problem!

I'm really surprised that there isnt more resources for this kinda thing on the web regarding prometeias...

Am up and running! After hours of playing with the control board and the fan board with a DVM, I have got it up and running with the new fans! :D

There is no wire colour convention used with my machII, they are all muddled up! My original problem with the USB connection was also due to dodgy wiring!

Dragging up an old one... :D

You mentioned the inital USB problem was because of dodgy wiring... can you expand on that please? :)

It's been buried for almost a year :D

The USB should match this on the control board:

The spare pin should be closest to the camera lens (I think I bent it to stop me connecting it the wrong way!)

Then basically ensure that the motherboard side of the lead matches the motherboard connector with the following convention:

RED = Power

WHITE = Data-

GREEN = Data+

BLACK = Ground

I hope that helps :)
