Mach 2 GT And Sudden Death Of My CPU and Motherboard

ooo00OO thats a worrying sight. your cpu is balding!!

have to say its the first i heard about pins falling off, particulary in the middle.

i'm still using the same vapo'd cpu over 2 years, sometimes 24/7 for a week.

Yep seen this also on a 754 A64.

Brother runs a phased water chiller (converted beer chiller) and started with problems.

When we stripped system 6 pins stayed in the cpu socket and theer were signes of white deposits also.

He had not used dielectric grease.

I just whack liberal amounts of Vaseline in the socket (cheap as chips, works like a charm) and use contact cleaner as per Fatty. :)

And now its time for best part. Both Motherboard and Cpu are... WORKING!!! Very well!!! I almost fell of my chair when I saw that. Everything is 100% stable!

Unfortunately your pics aint loading...

The thing with phase change is that condensation will get there sooner or later mate...i have said that in the past many times..

I had 3 P4C800Es die on me all volt modded if i am not mistaken...always running 24/7 my rigs as i only got one rig...I think there should be an old post in this forum with a pic of a green substance(could have been a mushroom easily lol)

bought dielectriv grease...covered everything...dual layers of seal string...still the air trapped inside the socket will corrode your gear...

Even now that my mach 2 GT is dead (needs sorting out) and i am using an IC7MAX3 i found in the back of the mobo signs of corrosion...thats how it is man...bought some neoprene sheets too...havent used them...

Hi,

I have always used dielelectric :).My first phase unit was a vapochill and its recommended in the manuals that you use grease. So i always have in fear of exactly what happened to you.

For a couple of a quid a tube its definately worth it :)
