MAC vs PC (video editing)

It was of course a bannered article to promote a certain sites line of hardware, and I did find it somewhat interesting a read.

Looking at it from a cash pov, the article does point out some excellent points where the pc beat the mac, on this occasion, with their limit of £1700 (or so) to spend.

Then u go back and look at the tech that`s involved. (u may be aware I`m pretty keen on advancements taking strides in tech than something that holds tech back imo). To do this objectively, u do have to put the monies aside for one moment. (Especially when there`s guys on here who could build the same pc they sell for possibly half the price in anycase).

Take a look at the hardware the pc has to use in order to beat the Mac in all but 1 of the benchmarks. I think it`s a discusting show of performance and utilizing of hardware power. (again pricing aside) Just imagine how far behind the pc OS and it`s software would be if the Mac had the same hardware. The Mac used, based on what`s in the Mac Pro G5, is pretty much a year or more behind, atleast a generation in hardware-processing terms.

Tells me, when it comes to technology, particularly in the departments tested here, the Mac is a generation in advance of a pc in terms of harnessing what`s available.

I`ve not opened this thread as a 1 v 1 slagging match, I feel both the mac and pc have there places in society atm, but it`s a real eye opener.

Do those who`ve heard me comment on what a Mac with a G7xxx card can do game-wize vS a PC with a G8xxx, u have to understand it`s not the same as comparing pc with pc, it`s a different way of programming things.

It's not really an eye opener imo

A Mac's OS is optimised for the hardware it sits on and you can't really add much more in. PC's Win boxes have to cope with loads of different drivers and lots of other stuff

i've got to say if mac can keep up the price dropping (they are but slowly) or at least offering better for the same price in some cases. And keep the games coming onto the machines and get a decent 8 series in there and program for it properly it could be an eye opener tbh. i love macs :) i love that they just work. I Love that they work fast and for me up-to-date pretty much flawlessly.
