Hey guys I am in the market for a very cheap computer for my little sister who is 10 years old. I am wanting to get it for her for christmas and I was just wondering what you guys think I should put in it. I saw this and it is what I am kind of thinking about:

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicati...458-1142 F&CMP=EMC-EMAIL2006&SRCCODE=CANEM655

I still have to buy the video card and hard drive, but it's a start.

She uses the internet for her little online games and looking up different things. She also wants to be able to play games such as zoo tycoon 2, and probably more games like that. By no means is this an intense gaming computer or anything like that but I just want to get something decent.

I'd like to keep the price down so somewhere around $700 CAD max

As I always like to consult the OC3D forums, tell me what you think :worship:

Looks decent to me. If you don't go with that, I got a bunch of stuff sitting around my house, I think I have enough for a full comp if you need it.

I`d vote you take this sorta route, and channel your thoughts mostly on what the case looks like (pfft a girl ? get a pink one! hehe) and make sure it`s got lot`s of accessible USB support coz they love cameras, printers, mobile phones, music players and pink gadgety stuff.

Did I mention pink - they like pink.

Anywho, back to the getting stuff off a fellow member thing, I bet the majority of guyz who conviene on this forum have atleast 75% of a damn good pc laying around their dwellings somewhere - and they`ll be able to give you 1st hand info of their experiences of the stuff ;)

Having said that - the buying a `barebones` thing is semi-sensible as if anything does foul-up on it, u can blame a shop rather than u`r big brother ;)

If youve got a shop liek ebuyer in the Canada (they have a US branch atch...) then build a 939 system for her. Looking at £200-300, no idea what that is in CAD sorry but its dirt cheap. I say ebuyer cos the have the cheapest cases going. And indeed a pink one last time i looked...

Me and llwyd did the insides of his mrs' pc with with and Athlon 64 3000+, 512MB value ram, Asus A8V-VM & 80gb IDE WD for somting like £150. The rest is cheap as.
