Looking for a new TV for an HTPC setup

Hey guys,

I've been doing some shopping around for a new TV for an HTPC setup. Other than movies it will also be used for console games and whatever else I feel like I guess. Doing some reading on the internet it seems plasma tv's I am to avoid.

My big question is are there actually any non edgelit LED tv's on the market? Reading about the edgelit ones it seems that the picture on these TV's is brighter at the edges and dimmer in the middle. Can someone varify this who has an edgelit LED TV?

Also if anyone can recomend a TV in the 50" but not 0ver 60" range and under $2000 canadian, that's be great. In the mean time I'll keep shopping

How sensitive are you to input lag?

Not especialy, I'm more focused on that for my PC specific monitor.

I'm really out of my element on this one. There's a bunch of marketing gibberish in the tv market and that caused me to not follow it upon buying my tv. There exists non edge lit led tvs. I have a LG 32LE5300. I believe this is edge lit last time I checked. It is hard to notice the "brighter edge" you are talking about. I guess an equivalent example would be a laptop screen. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the light should be evenly diffused across the screen. So depending on the quality of the tv you might run into that problem.

Best thing you can do is go to a local store and check out their tv and see what you like. Sorry, I can't really help you that much.
