Looking at designing a desk

Hi,

I need a new desk as the one I have is wayyyy too small now!!

I was looking at designing one and getting a local company to make it for me.

Does anyone have any idea what software I should use to design a desk, most of what I have seen is geared more to industrial design.

Or if you know anywhere that does a wide rang of large desks in different designs.

Google sketch-up will be the easiest for you to play about in. There is practically no learning curve. I have a custom desk and cupboards due to the size of my room. The cost of that was in the thousands.

Designing one is just one idea, I need to look at all my options before I make a choice.

i think designing your own desk is a good idea...
you´ll get exactly what you want (size, shape etc.)

Ok the bit at the rear is for cable management, it could easily be removed to save cost or time

I have designed a desk on sketchup and will be going out this week to get the materials (Wood) cheers all for the help.

I will post pics when I have finished it and maby progress pics.

It's nice design, especially since it's your' first sketchup use i would make the "shelf" thicker and all the legs the same size though

You can type the dimensions while you drag out the shape
