Now where is the live web chat? there should be one. No honestly, i think that would be great to have. Want more nerd friends :-)

My friends in real life doesnt understand computers and software, hehe

I remember the good old days of the MSN chat rooms, it was all well and good but you you also had the problem of people pretending to be something they wasn't (sick pedo's pretending to be lil kids to set up meets or get pictures of kids etc rape and murder and all that) they f***ed it up for the rest of us.

this is the same forum software As MSUK. and the live chat is great on MSUK.

However MSUK do ask for £10 a year from its members. But with that £10 you get a prize draw every week to win some cool RC goddies and lots more storage space for your own personel gallery.

The chat room works well because only people who have paid can enter. and this stops anyold tom dick or harry from just wondering in and being an idiot.

I would like to see a live chat room would be great.

You all missed it. It was around a while back but was open to abuse and was also being used as a substitute for forum threads. Not good for business especially as a tech forum!

Seen a "shout box" type add-on for UBB that could be interesting if there's an IP.Board version. More like an old school guestbook than a chat, but that might be better IMO.

no, not again.

too much hassle to police and too open to abuse on so many levels that it will not, and tbh should not return.

Yeah its a big problem with people who thinks they can write anything they feel like on the Internet. I guess there will always be harassment on forums or live chats. Anyways, i think you can have those removed from website by blocking IP or somthing.

Still think that the idea of a live chat would be fun :-)

This is a very good idea. Maybe the staff could consider doing it this way? I would pay 10£ a year, np.

i had been a frequent user of IRC servers. not only were they the first a little more covert way to spread/get movies, music and warez but a true gateway to the big, big world. but let's face it: if webchat, IRC or both....they're all dead.

i'd really, really like a live chat here, but i doubt very much that it would be used that frequently. for me personally, facebook has become some sort of bad IRC replacement. social networks feature less synchronous communication than live chats. i'd say that if people reach a certain "age" the desire for synchronous communication decreases. at least that's what happened to me some years ago.

an overclock3d live chat would certainly be a good thing for those seeking (technical) help and the others providing it. several large software and hardware companies use live chats for that, too.

but finally there are many questions to answer: what would it cost and can overclock3d afford that? remember: there's nothing like free software or server operation. what you don't spend on licenses you'll put into implementation and operation. who's going to operate and moderate the chatrooms? aso asf. a little pessimistic, i know :-)

90% of it will just be arguments
