LGA2011 CPU Cooler

Hi guys,

What are some good LGA2011 CPU coolers that are not too heavy and won't place stress on the mounting points or motherboard?

Its for a Xeon E5-2687W.

Cheers

Not sure they make it anymore - couldn't see it listed on their website.

So everyone knows, the reason I am back considering the aircool over any H100 or H100i is because Corsair apparently will not replace or refund items damaged by a faulty H100 or H100i. And when it is their fault and a faulty product I find this unacceptable, given the variety of high cost items a CPU water cooler could leak over.

they are there.. just one of the two best selling low cost mid-performance coolers.

Cooler Master 212 Plus
Cooler Master 212 EVO

they do have limited liability and when pressed they do very well. i do hear
the worst stories more than the full replacement stories, but they do
replacement, you might have to wedge a lil.
ive got or had many of the H-series and never had a leak. so from my 14
H's zero leaks. and i dont recal any leakers here on the forum as well.

i know your pain and its hard enough to fend off normal defects to add liquid
damage to destruction is a hard pill to swallow. but that is the gamble in these
electronic works-of-art.

I saw lot of people say good things about the NH-D14 and the NH-L12 (even Tom was impressed with it )

Although the 'D14 would likely be fine (many of us have this cooler and i've never heard of any motherboards bending, etc.), I don't think it would be needed for the Xeon chip. Seeing as it doesn't overclock at all, I can't imagine it producing much heat.
The 'Evo 212 cools fantastically well for how cheap it is.

Until recently I'd be recommending the Cooler Master Hyper 212. For a while now it's been my goto cooler for most of the rigs I've built for customers. It's cheap, doesn't weigh much, and does it's job fantastically.

I now might be going to a different cooler, after some results I saw, which you can read about in THIS thread. Although I've tested it in just two systems, it has outperformed the Hyper 212 in my tests. It also comes in around the same price as the Hyper 212, with similar weight. Either way, you can't go wrong with either.

I'd second the suggestion for the Hyper 212 evo, but make sure that you also purchase the retention bracket for LGA2011, which is sold separately. As Josh said, there's not much point getting anything higher end with a Xeon.

Haven't looked into the performance of that unit, but isn't it discontinued? It doesn't even support LGA1156, let alone 2011.

It is discontinued, but the stores in my area still have loads of them. The one I bought comes with mounting brackets for LGA2011. The box it came in said it supported LGA775 only, but when I opened it up I saw it had support for LGA1155 (my test bench) and 2011.

Am I able to attach my own fans? Or do I need to use the 'snapon' style ones?
Was thinking of Corsair SP fans.

And whats cooler masters replacement for the EVO?

(Personally I dislike Noctua because of their distinct color scheme)

For the 212 EVO you get a spare bracket to mount a second fan and I ran SP120's on mine when I had one. It is an awesome cooler.
