Leap Motion

Hi all,

Been looking at the Leap Motion and I am quite interested in it and thinking of using it as part of a project at college. One thing though my CPU isn't under the supported list:

Minimum System Requirements
Windows® 7 or Windows® 8
AMD Phenom™ II or Intel® Core™ i3, i5 or i7 processor
2 GB RAM
USB 2.0 port
Internet Connection

This isn't a problem at college as they have i5's

Was just wondering if anyone has one on the forum and could let me know how much CPU power it uses.

I have a Pentium E5200 2.5Ghz running at stock.

For those of you that don't know what the Leap Motion is here is a link to the website: https://www.leapmotion.com/

Thanks for reading,
Antony :)

You should be fine, I doubt it is much more intensive than many other USB devices. They probably have conservative min spec requirements so that they have an easy out for troublesome support issues. Get it from somewhere local with a good/generous return policy and just try it out.

I guess it depends what you're using it for, i guess it will require some number crunching for it to work.. that said everyone I know who ordered one of these has been massively disappointed and have said not to bother

Ok thanks I will pass this on and see what the others want to do at college.

We do have another idea for a Raspberry Pi cluster which should be fun.
