Counter-Strike: Source Client

Some of you may have noticed that the latest Steam update has made your FPS drop majorly, this is happening for people with GeForce FX cards and Radeons under the 9600. To get your FPS back follow do this:

1. Go to your Play Games on Steam

2. Right click on Counter-Strike: Source and click Properties

3. Click Launch Options and then in that box type this in it

"-dxlevel 80"

4. Now start up your CS:S and if it is still lagging go back and change the command to "-dxlevel 70".

Counter-Strike: Source Server, 'srcds'

If you are running Mani Mod and you update your CS:S Server (Linux and Windows versions) your server will fail to start. To fix this patch Mani Mod with the latest version which you can download here.

VAC is having issues in this update and is enabled on all servers even though they are saying they are not secured. Let's see how many hackers get banned because they think the servers they are going on aren't secure :)

this steam update is giving me the shits. i try to play css, and it lags like a mofo and my machine keeps hanging up on me and then windows " encountered" problems and then needed to close hl2.exe  :stickpoke

the prudent thing would be to post the fix for the benefit of all who may have this problem in the wee hours...

I've had a few Crash To Desktop's, but...no noticable FPS difference, and I'm packen a GeForce2 :rollingla.

Yeah ive had it crash back to desktop too.

Steam - i hate you

Turning HDR off usually fixes the crash the Desktop problem, although I'm not entirely sure this one will work.

Options > Video > Advanced

HDR does nothing at the moment because no maps support it, what's the point of having it on at all?

It was enabled as soon as CS:S was updated.. and it's causing lots of people problems.

BTW usually you enable things in the same place as you disable them and I just told you where to disable it
