Lambo Countach

Why did you block out the plate when you can clearly see it in the earlier pics :p

Read earlier comments.... Im too lazy, busy doing other things too. It doesnt matter anyways if people see it, at least you can see i attempted it. XD

Another thing, is it just me or does it look like this car and stormtroopers helmets were designed by the same people?!?! ;)

Also there is one Lamborghini you can't touch for styling:
I can touch it for styling. 69 Corvette Stingray :D They look almost identical in chasis design.

Mind you id rather have the AC Cobra behind it lol.

Heres my pick of course.

agreed, '67 GT500 > Countach

one of the best looking cars in the world alongside Vanquish / DB9, Merchielago and a nicely done R34.

If I had a 'free car' token in the world-garage it would be between a CCX-R and the Blitz Skyline. Although an F40 with unlimited credit at somewhere like the Castrol or Lotus workshop wouldn't be the end of the world....

Aston DBR9?

or maybe .

The Ariel Atom :

67 GT500 = The american dream, not for me though, think its ugly, too old and slow. European comfort FTW!!

please dont get me started, I could take this thred on for page after page

all stunning in their own rights.....

its not exactly slow, but compared to new cars, i very much doubt any engine you put in it will top the speed of a car like, the Atom, or DBR9.

The thing is, whats the chances of finding and being able to rebuild an old classic like the GT500???

I wouldnt like to even consider it. but hey. each to their own.

I can buy one any year for 60k right now or less. Restored from original. A stock 428 Cobra Jet in a 68 Shelby GT500KR with Holley 805 double pumpers has enough torque and accel to raise the front end up for about 3 seconds. I dont see "faster" Euro cars doing that ;) Like you said to each his own. IMO you can stuff as many cylinders as you want under any Eruo hood but on the 1/4 strip American 8's will always win.

ok ok, maybe you have me on that one, whats the 1/4 mile time for that? 0 -60? 0 - 100??? mph that is.

Also, I think the Atom might give it a run for its money.

Looks at these for specs with an amazing price tag too :

* 0-60 mph : 2.7 seconds (manufacturer's claim)

* Top Speed: 140 mph, 225 km/h (155 mph, 249 km/h supercharged)

* Power: 220 bhp (300 bhp supercharged)

* Weight: 456 kg (1,005 lb)

* Transmission: Honda six-speed with reverse

* Price: £20,000/£29,000 supercharged (cost in the US is over $65,000)

* Engine: 300 bhp (224 kW/304 PS) supercharged Honda Civic Type-R K20 (top spec)

* Manufacturer: Ariel Ltd

* Length: 3,410 mm (134 in)

* Width: 1,798 mm (70.8 in) / 1,828 mm (72.0 in) with 225 Tyres

* Height: 1,195 mm (47.0 in)

* Track: 1,600 mm (63 in) front and rear

* Wheelbase: 2,345 mm (92.3 in)

* Designer: Nik Smart

It also has some amazing power to weight ratio.

"Although the top speed of approximately 140-150 mph is relatively tame compared to more exotic sports cars, the high power-to-weight ratio (approximately 500 bhp/ton, or 650 bhp/ton supercharged) affords it incredible acceleration- "0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, if you can change gear fast enough" (to quote Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson)- and the low weight provides excellent control through corners."

You dont want a 1/4 mile car, anyone can build one of those, slap enough NOS in something and wa hey!!

You need something thats going to rag its way round a track, thats true racing.

The Astons Specs :

* Power: 470 bhp (350 kW/477 PS) @ 6000 rpm[2]

* Torque: 443 ft·lbf (601 N·m) @ 5000 rpm[2]

* Weight: 1,760 kg (3,880 lb)[2]

* 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h): 4.6 seconds[2]

* Top Speed: 190 mph (310 km/h)[2]

Another truly amazing car.

They should do this on the next top gear, give some American Muscle a race on a strip with some European cars and then do the same around a track. Would be sweet to see who wins.

And lets not forget, these are cars that are not tweaked, fresh from the factory. Slap some race teams into the equation and DAMN!! it would be superb.

Most US cars aren't my bag at all, I'd far rather has a car that doesn't raise the front end and looks nice than a GT500, although I disagree when people say that their ugly.

American car manufacturers think sticking a 16LTR V200000 makes a good car. Just no. Leaf springs and century old mechanics ftl

Give me a Nismo Skyline GTR V-Spec any day of the week and I'll see your GT500 and leave it in the dust, especially round those things Americans don't seem to have heard of - corners :p

If I could get any car it would be an Aston Martin DB9-S LTD Edition. Awesome looks inside and out and a nice touch of speed for when ya need it :D

Countach - my dream car when I was a kid, either that or an Escort RS Cosworth. My uncle had a Lotus Carlton, couldn't be touched by any car on the road at the time (and gave it a good go on the track too :))

love American muscle but also a huge fan of Euro's and Japs......having been a qater mile junkie it soon gets boring and anyone can go in a straight line, lets throw in some twisty bits and see what happens then ;) 1 - 0 to the Euros anyday :D

for going round corners I'd have to say the Japs for that.

Drifting = HOLY SHIZZLE!!!

You seen some of the cars they use??

Project X cars are lush. All carbon fibre and gold. mmmm....

They sure do know how to tweak things, but there is so much technology under that hood it scares me, something dies and you could die too.

LOL, this thread is definatley turning into an american muscle vs european/jap handling discussion. I'd have to say that tbh, making the wheels spin and the tyres smoke or even lifting the car into the air is not the most efficient use of power, far better imo to have all the engine's hard work transferred into actual forward velocity, and @ sock drifting is sick have you seen D1?

I think some video games make a decent point though.

American V8 = top drag

Jap 4 banger = best corner

Euro = best track and ralley.

0 -60? 0 - 100??? mph that is.
Idk the 1/4 becasue each one is different but Carrol Shelbys 1967 GT500 Super Snake with a 427 stock was 1-100 back to 0 in 13 flat. Without the Paxton Supercharger. Alot of restos have modern day suspension and brake systems with 5 speeds like Eleanor so corners are no problem.

Give me a Nismo Skyline GTR V-Spec any day of the week and I'll see your GT500 and leave it in the dust, especially round those things Americans don't seem to have heard of - corners
Put the same amount of money that youll need to catch me stock into my GT500 and ill do the corners AND break over 700hp. Lol epic failure.

Like i previously said every man for himself. Ive personaly drove alot of these cars here mentioned and the GT500 still remains my favorite and oddly enough right under that a 2006 RX8. I think Lambos are such a waste for the amount you pay for them. I love the Diablo Roadster myself but sheesh the price tag is incredible. And, they understeer horribly.

PP people buy lambo's for what they are, alot of craftsmanship and passion.

Of course you can buy cheaper cars that are faster.

I like the looks of the GT500, looks like a beast IMO. And when PPL say American cars can take corners, yeah they can, just not AS GOOD as import cars.

Did you guys forget about German cars? They rock :)
