wanting to get a ssd and been looking at the two drives above and just wanted your veiws on what you think is better, how they are to live with day to day etc

like most people the dive will be used for os and programs that i use alot that take the most time to load etc

They're both very good actually. It's definitely a personal preference. If I were to choose, I'd probably take the Kingston HyperX as it looks cool and Kingston has always been smooth with their service.

The HyperX is a stunning drive. It looks amazing and is faster than the Force 3, so it would be the better choice. However as you know, it is also more expensive.

thanks fior the info people

well i have to agree about looks the hyperx is a lot better. the corsair ssd is something you want to hide away where it can not been seen. the corsair is only £30 cheaper and for the extra you get with the hyperx i guess it has to be a winner

It's well worth taking a look at the Mushkin Chronos as well. Pretty similar spec to the HyperX and a bit cheaper. Got one here, and have no complaints.

thanks for the input guys and sorry for bringing this thread back to life but i thought it might be better to add my other ssd question here instead of making a new thread

i think i saw some where on here or it may have been a web page some where that your not meant to defrag ssd or format it using the method you do for a standard hard drive but are other things you do with a standard hard drive ok to do with an ssd like disk clean up and add and remove programs etc.

It's OK to add/remove programs. Writing to an SSD does effect it's lifespan, but not by a lot, so nothing to worry about. I've heard you can use the regular Windows disk cleanup utility, not sure about other cleaners like CCleaner though.

EDIT: I use CCleaner myself, but not sure about what effect it has. Been using it since I built my rig (6 months or so ago) and I haven't had any problems (touch wood).

defragging is a no as most ssds use trim or garbage collector

formatting i have not heard anything about?

you can use disk cleanup and remove programs same as a hdd

there a few tweaks you can do though like moving pagefile onto another drive

Thanks for the help guys

alicarve: what do you mean by pages?

and i think i have made up my mind to go with the Kingson Hyperx ssd but is it worth buying the bundle kit or just the ssd?

i have seen just the ssd on its own for £171.73 and the bundle kit for £179.62

Thanks for the useful link Alicarve

the bundle kit comes with: - 3.5" HyperX Desktop mounting plate, 2.5" External Enclosure, Multi-bit screwdriver, Blue SATA data cable. i guess none of that is really needed as i dont wish to use it as a portable drive

Sources95 thanks for the info. im going to order it tomorrow and im sure sure from what people have said i wont be disappointed

i have one question, i"m replacing my wd black640gb with a hyperx 120gb, i have an ASRock 890gx extreme 3 and a phenom 1055t clocked at 3.5ghz, i also have 8 gigs of kingston hyperx memory, now one of my friends told me that controller on my mbo will not be capable of using full ssd preformance, but i have an excellent sata3 controller so could you please tell me is that true?
