Kepler coming MARCH 23rd

300w TDP

I hope that is for the top end card because if that's for the 660 or 670 we have another Fermi on our hands. These cards need to live up to the hype on performance or it is going to be fail for Nvidia, I just wish they would hurry up and release them so I know whether I will be saving up for a green card or a red card.

Latest rumor from the rumorsaurus is that they have gone into production and will go on sale early April.

I personally don't mind a late release, I only planned to upgrad in the late summer and early Autumn anyways, but nVidia definitely has to be careful not to slip up, AMD pulled out all the stops to get the 7xxx series out early and it will make them a fair bit of money.

That 300w TDP definitely has to be for the 680/690. If not then they are doomed.

Personally I sense another GTX480. Due to lower yields they won't be able to get enough GPUs with all the cores working, so they'll have to resort to having cores locked out similar to the GTX480. So even if a GK104 with all cores enabled is capable of outperforming a HD7970. Nvidia's flagship card will only be on par or slightly ahead because they have to lower the core count, and due to low yields prices of these cards will also be high. Not to mention the apparent 300w TDP.

However it would be great for Nvidia to release a competitive card so AMD can stop milking the HD7970 and put it in a price range where I can actually afford one without losing an arm and a leg. xD

Unless they have to draw that much because they are just super powerful - but most likely not. Wish they'd release a card with tonnes of shaders and a low core clock, so you can make it more powerful if you have sufficient cooling (OCing but with massive headroom, like a 6000 core 580 @250Mhz).

So someone sees a card from Q3 2011 with 6+8 pin connectors and concludes that GK104 has a TDP of 300W. That's hilarious.

From what i've read (mentioned in the article aswell) it seems to be fake because of the physics score being too low for the CPU.

i was orginally going to buy a nvidia gtx 590 3 gb but my store messed up and i had to wait ages for another one

which would prob not arrive since nvidia apperantly is stopping production of it .

anyways ive always liked nvidia but i was not about to pay 800 euros for 590

so instead i went with the ati radeon 7970 a bit difficult since i always had nvidia , but it was getting a little redicelous if u know what i mean

They'll cut cores again if it proves to be more that a certain %age faster than their last card (not the competition) and release the full cores later.

Milking revenue. Although users will say it's cos the build can't cope with full.

Ive already noticed The price of AMD cards dropping, No sooner had i bought my 7970 from Scan and it had Dropped £10 the day after i bought it ;(

I don't know, something smells fishy on nVidia's end... I think they are purposefully pushing out false information as a strategy to dissuade you from buying AMD. If they had the goods to compete with AMD, surely they would have released it by now? Which to me means:

  • Stalling for more time until they have something to compete with AMD
  • They have problems with their Kepler Architecture.

I hope I am wrong, I do not favor one manufacturer above the other, but prices are going to remain ridiculous without competition in the game.

what there doing is binning cards atm nothing more or less... they dont have yields high enough and wont of anything high end for a while . so the ones that some things work on they dub lower cards, fuse off the rest on the card soo it cant be active.... the rest of the cards that work perfectly they put in another bin until they get a big enough stack to sell high end cards.

This makes sense
