I have replied to a post in the Network & Security section regarding a suggestion that i would do if i were transfering large files via WAN. You have just closed this thread because it was three months old, may i ask you why you did that.

Information is good stuff and should not have a time limit put on it. I have read with interest here on this board, some are old threads but points still pertaining to todays technology. A couple in particular that were of interest were old, and as I was wondering how to do the same thing myself, found them a very interesting read, I would also have welcomed any further information tagged onto them that was relevent to the particular problem, it adds to the database of knowledge, in fact two people posted after me suggesting that this thread is very much alive.

I have also gone through the FAQ's and can't find any reference to the length of time that if a post has not been added to the thread, then that thread should be deemed 'dead'. SysXtreme seems to have a purge on to get new members here by offering prizes and cheap broadband etc, encouraging people to post and participate in banter and sharing knowledge among a community. By all means lock a post that is hijacked and flamed, but locking a post that is helpful just does not make sense to me and will discourage people posting.

Your comments are welcome...

The thread was closed as this was a problem that was raised by a member in September.

We encourage people to post thier problems in whichever relevent forum of :anisx: but to make their own threads as there is simply no point reviving old threads unless the person has a new problem.

Youir post was informative and is not deleted from :anisx: BUT the thread is locked as it is not going to go anywhere. If you or another user has a new problem then they can simply post a new thread - whats the problem in that?

In the T&C's:

name='"T&C's said:
* Start new threads for[/B'] each topic and keep current threads on-topic.

I was simply moderating the forum - keeping it tidy and keeping threads up to date.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback Kempez815, but my reply was on topic and there was no need for a new thread, this would just have confused things.

The T&C's that you pointed to was for new threads and not closing threads

Yeah no probs mate but we like to keep the threads new and up to date or we get a load of real old threads with people giving advice to someone who had a problem in like June or even last year :eek: This can get annoying ;)

Like I said your post is still there and is certainly searchable so the decent advice isn't going anywhere :)
