I'm getting lag when playing Tomb Raider, Remember Me and Bioshock Infinte... I thought when I bought my new card things would all be better now ;).

My CPU is not THAAAT bad, can someone please help me determine if there is a setting problem, or if there's any good reason why my games aren't as smooth as silk with my new 400 dollar card? :)

Thanks!

EDIT: Maybe I should post a dump of what I'm running for a spec? What is a good program to do this with? :)

Just write em down

YoU are stuttering turn off tressfx. The special hair setting isnt the best plauing with nv cards. Its an amd feature I believe. Thag sorted my issues

Mainboard: ASRock A780GXE/128M
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 3.4GHz
Memory: 8GB DDR2 PC2-6400
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB
SSD: Samsung 128GB
HDD: 1TB

--I can turn off TressFX, but then why the lag in Remember Me and Bioshock? There's no TressFX in those.

What's your power supply mate, maybe it just can't keep up?

I really wonder why you didn't buy an HD 7950/7970 when most games you play are optimized for AMD.

I just updated my PSU, I bought the Corsair HX750, more power than I need for sure.
One point, I am using my 46" Samsung TV as a display... Would this attribute to my occasional lag?

I could grab Fraps and test, is it a free app?

Thank you for your replies!

yes, TV will lag. trying to get all those wide spaced pixels to change instantaneously
does take some time and what pixel clarity isn't the best on TV screens. usually playable
and not bad to look at, but for PC monitor performance where the pixels are compact
makes for low/no lag..

The tv shouldnt matter because its still the same number of pixels as a computer monitor.

Im wondering if the RAM isnt holding you back some. Youve got one of the fastest video cards ever but youre using slow, 6 year old RAM. What CPU is that? If its one of the old C2 Phenom II's like the X4 940, then it could be holding you back a little as well since its 5 years old. While this was fine for 1280x1024 back in the day, I think it might be a little overmatched for such a screaming fast video card and 1920x1080. I think youre in need of an upgrade mate. If youve got the Phenom II X4 965, then a good healthy overclock of the base clock as well as the CPU/NB would work wonders most likely. A 3.8 GHz clock with a 2600 MHz CPU/NB would really open that rig up.

Yeah, I was thinking that... I wanna go i7 this time, and i was planning out an MSI mobo and new RAM, but it's just about the $, so i gotta save :)

I'll upgrade those first, since I will eventually anyway, and if the performance is still low, I'll buy a 2560x1440 27" Dell/HP IPS monitor

running at 1440p will bring your fps down. and did you mean 770?

Yeah, Id stick with a 25" or 27" 1920x1080 monitor myself. 2560x1440 is a lot more load on the GPU and will mean a good bit less performance. If youre going up to a 30" screen then the extra resolution would be worth it but I dont think the hit on performance is worth it at least not to me.
