Just got my SM961 - Benchmark VS 950 PRO

Hi guys,

I've just received my new SM961 512GB NVMe that replaces my 950 PRO.

Here my first benchmarks:

Samsung 950 PRO 512GB

Samsung SM961 512GB

More than 3.500MB/s...

I have to say that sequential reads are impressive. The 950 PRO had the official NVMe driver from Samsung while the SM961 was running with the default Microsoft generic NVMe driver. At the moment Samsung doesn't provide NVMe drivers for OEM products, but I'm pretty sure that once the new 960 PRO retail will be available, the official NVMe driver will work with SM961.

Performance got significantly better after forcing the installation of the NVM Express Driver from the 950 PRO.

Is there much difference in load temps between the drives?

Actually I didn't check temps on the 950 but I'm pretru sure the new Polaris controller should run cooler

No worries mate I heard the same so I thought I would ask to see if there is a significant difference or if it's just a couple of °C. Look's like a sweet drive though
