Hi guys, some of you may remember around christmas 2010 i posted about my Haf X Project, and never really updated the thread afterwords with how things turned out. Anyway i renamed my project to the Xieron project, and it has been through a few different versions since then. Here are the various version with specs below and what i still have planned, as usual feedback and suggestions are much appreciated

Xieron MK 2:

This was after i had an upgrade of components, this was a few months before christmas, around octoberish.

Spec:

Motherboard - Asus Rampage II Extreme

GPU - MSI N560GTX Ti OC Twin Frozr II

RAM - Kingston HyperX Genesis 12GB (2 x 6GB)

CPU - Intel Core i7 940 @ 2.93Ghz

PSU - Galaxy 1000w PSU

HDD - 2 x WD 350GB, 1 x WD Caviar Green 1TB

Cooler - Antec Kuhler H20 920 liquid cooling

Up until christmas 2011 i originally had a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro cooler, and was still using the HD6850, but i was fitting the Asus Kuhler on christmas day and broke the 6850, which was later replaced with the GTX 560 ti im using now.

Here are the latest pics (Cabling is as tidy as i can get it atm):

The LED on the pump has been changed to red

Hope you all like it, i plan on an MK 3 or an MK 2.5 as i want to sleeve the cables in blue, which i will be buying at the end of the month, and i will be swapping out the red LED fans for blue ones as well as adding blue cold cathodes

Good rig so far mate, once you sleeve those cables to blue it will look even better

Yep, Can't wait, i was trying to avoid doing them myself, as some of the cables just plug into the PSU, so i can buy presleeved ones, but some of them im going to have to do my self like the 24 pin one, first time ive done it though i wi think ill have a practice on a spare PSU first haha

hehe thanks. As i said the cables are as tidy as i can get them atm

but ill sort them out properly once they are sleeved

yeah, I was looking at it trying to see if there was a better way to do any of it, but the case just has soo much room it makes it a bit tough. Behind the motherboard tray looks good though. On the inside the only thing I could see that I would change is, rather then have the 8 pin motherboard power come down from the top, loosen the top of the motherboard a bit and you can run the 8pin power up through the CPU cut out and have it come out from behind the motherboard and loop over. If you did that, you would see less of that 8pin power cord. But other then that, its like you said, it looks like it would be a little hard to get it much better.

the 8 pin used to be like that but the mounting barcket for the old cpu cooler i had before i went liquid got in the way of it not moved it back yet. Ill do it like that ones im finished

HAHA! indeed it is, i'd be happy with an 850w but the PSU was a present that i got about 3 or 4 years ago, dam good one as well
smile.gif
can't complain if its a present hehe

EDIT: i may be getting these sort of cables Or sleeving my own, not decided yet

Dude -I gotta recommend the alchemy cables. They are brilliant! Just added them to my build and they give you so much more options for cable management. Not to mention they look very, very nice indeedy!

ordered the stuff, wont be doing anything until next weekend though, i dunno wether or not to create a seperate post in the build log section as i will be completely stripping the case to change stuff.

Your psu is epic.

i have the 850watt enermax galaxy one that i got for £5 +postage on ebay,he said it was overheating. it want, so overall i got a great psu working for less than the cost of a night drinking

i love it, had it at least 3 or 4 years now. And nice deal right there i think its rare that a psu overheats tbh. Good bargain if you ask me especially for a 5er lol

Nice upgrade,,, whats the performance on the Kuhler like ?

Its alright, im impressed with it, its nice and quiet, when my computers been on for while the idle liquid temp usually averages around 38.8*c at 600 rpm fan speed so nice and quiet there, my friend has the same one and he had issues with noise from the pump when it is at a certain angle but ive had no noise from it.

CPU temps are a little high though (i7 Q940 @2.93ghz), an average of 48*c across all 4 cores but i think that may be a thermal paste issue they used to be around the liquid temp...

Is that average at idle or full load ?

Ran in to a few issues searching for cables

Aria have pretty much sold out of the ones i need, ebuyer dont have them anymore, same with yogitech and a few others, only place is overclockersUK but im avoiding them at the moment as a friend of mine has had a few issues with them since they where bought out by case king, dodgey laptops been sent to him and support not responding to his emails are RMAs.

Was hoping to do some work on it this friday, gunna have to wait
