eeedjuts! the iPad hasn't even got a good enough rep yet, and to be lauching the MkII version of this piece of ????????? is just insane

I would be but it is not worth the premium over an iPad. Looking forward to seeing what Apples going to do with the new iPad I doubt I'll buy one though. I'm quite happy with my iPhone and Macbook Pro combo for mobile use oh and my Sony Ereader.
 
my brother is a keen mac user and he has one - i just don't like 'em. IHMO i don't think the iPad1 has been out long enough to justify a newer model.

IMHO, they aren't cheap, for what they are, and people who have only just bought the original version are going to feel a bit let down

That's Apple's product cycle for you. This new version won't be that much different IMO. It will add a camera or two for facetime, up the CPU speed, double the RAM from 256 to 512, and _maybe_ add an SD slot. For people on the current iPad, it really won't be that much of a difference to the end user. I definitely wouldn't buy one right now though. However, I am getting one for free next week. Can't really complain as it's free.

I'll primarily use it for Netflix streaming, Cisco VPN support to do remote RDP/VNC on servers, and for enterprise email/calendaring. Will also be nice for quick browsing on the couch and the occasional game as well.

These tablets fill a niche but are not a replacement for a traditional PC (or mac) IMO.

I doubt it. When the iPhone 4 was released second hand prices of the 3GS weren't affected right away.

People are idiots and if the product has an Apple logo attached, they will still pay a premium.
 
yeha true but its now gonna be a bargining tool for ppl wanting to get an ipad but it was just a little outta there budget, now they will be like now its gettin replaced that means that this no longer is apples top product so its gonna drop its value

i personally wont ever buy an apple product personally dont like them at all and when u get forced to use them at college thats just more annoying

In my opinion, apple products are good, and anyone that says otherwise either has never owned one or bought a faulty unit and never bothered to get a new one. When it comes to phones, laptops and tablets you cannot get higher quality than apple. I am sorry to say, but all of the android devices are just trying to catch up and are usually made of very sub par components. I don't care about the brand. They are good products regardless of who makes them.

Those of you who call people that buy apple idiots, are themselves idiots. There are people that buy $500 graphics cards, $1,000 CPUs, you don't think that is crazy? People can buy whatever they damn please if they worked for the money they have.

Firstly hdaviator well said and I can't agree with you more. Secondly what's with all the anti Apple sentiment? Apple produce top quality gear, there's very few companies who can come even remotely close to Apple on build quality. Secondly Apple have a one year product cycle and have done for the better part of ten years or so with their consumer products. Just because a new iPad is coming out doesn't make the old one utterly redundant. You know with the rate in which us "enthusiasts" go through components I find it amusing how surprised you are a new iPad is coming out so soon. At the end of the day its each to their own but there's no reason to bash Apple for producing good quality electronics that consumers buy, myself included.

People who buy Apple solely because it is Apple ARE idiots. People who don't buy Apple solely because it is Apple ARE idiots.

Being an educated consumer, doing your research, and finding the best product to suite your needs and budget is smart.

Apple haters are just as bad as Apple fanboys IMO. I have my product preferences for sure, but I always do my research whether I'm buying computer parts, gadgets, software, a vehicle, home appliances, clothes etc etc.
 
all i said was, i think it is soooo wrong to bring out the iPad2 less than a year after the first iPad's release. and this is why i think apple are idiots!

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. and that was my few cents worth!

I wouldn't say I'm an Apple hater. I would say their marketing and pr is btr than anyone else's at tarting up something others offer with a few Apple restrictions applied, and then releasing a newer version with all the functionality the 1st one should have had and making a big song and dance about it. But having said all that I will admit their products are sexy as hell and v.functional, and if after weighing up all my options and an Apple product came out on top I wouldn't hesitate to buy 1.

As for the iPad, I've used my friends a few times and I see no point in them what so ever, a net book is more functional and is half the price. If I wanted to play games on the bus or something I'd use my htc or touch, and if I wanted to do basic computing or surfing i'd use a netbook.

I just don't see how an iPad fits in, and of course there's the feeling of being very self conscious if you start using it in public imo.
 
i have a macbook pro, and a imac, and they're brilliant, i dont prefer apples over pc's, but the quality, as mentioned before, is second to none...

if you want quality and your willing to pay, apple is the way forward
