After my motherboard gave way I got it replaced and it appears that is has taken my 3930k with it. It won't start the post sequence and just sits with the cpu fault led lit up on the board.

Just about the RMA the cpu. Is it likely to cause a problem with the RMA that it was the mb that killed it?

Having tested the graphics cards and ram in another computer they seem to be ok (fingers crossed).

Very few CPUs die and need RMAs and I would imagine any retailer/company being incredibly sceptical.

I would like to point out, that it's very wrong for you to attempt to claim a replacement CPU if you know it wasn't actually Intel to blame and instead it was either you or the motherboard company.

Where did you get the CPU/motherboard from?
And what exactly happened to the previous motherboard causing it to fail?

You should deal with the motherboard manufacturer if their fault fried your components I would have thought
