is this pump powerfull enough?

So i am planning my first loop atm but im not sure if my pump is powerfull enough... i KNOW i should go for a D5 but they are expensive as hell and im on a tight budget.. im looking at a XSPC X2O 750 Dual Bayres/Pump V4, its pretty cheap compared to buying a seperate resesvior and pump but its pressure isnt really that nice..

im not planning any mad overclocks so its mostly for lowering the noise from the GPU (580 Phantom from gainward) this thing gets loud as F***

the loop i planned looks like this

Rad 1: 1xAlphacool 240 Monsta
Rad 2: 1xXSPC EX240 - only adding this rad if the monsta isnt enough for a CPU+GPU
CPU: 1xAlphacool NexXxoS XP³ Light
GPU:1xEK - FC580 GTX DirectGPU - Acetal

Another member (Paulstung) has recently found that his X2O wasn't really powerful enough to
power a similar loop if I understood his situation correctly (otherwise he'll hopefully correct me ;)).
He's replacing it with a Koolance PMP-500. It seems to be a bit louder than a D5, but not
loud enough to really be annoying. It's also not as expensive as a D5 and you don't need to
buy an additional top for it since it already comes with G1/4" threads.

You'll still have to get a separate res, but there's quite a few affordable options out there.

The monsta probably won't be enough for CPU+GPU, at least not if you want to run decent fan
speeds on it. If you're really strapped for cash and absolutely want to get rid of the GPU's noise,
I might suggest cooling the GPU only for now and then later upgrading to CPU+GPU. You'd still
need a pump that's powerful enough for the future upgrades, but you could save a bit of money
by not going for the full set now.

What case is this going into? Any particular reason for not going with a 60 mm rad for the
second one?

the XSPC 750 is really, just a CPU or GPU loop (1 device) pump. not really a multi
block style pump. although more expensive, the D5 or DDC are the most popular
for multi block loops. save more before purchase for easier, less headache build.

Hi there mate, Alpenwasser was right about the X20 it does move the water about at a fair rate, but by the noise it makes, it is trying too hard.I too was on a budget after buying the X20, and needing to swap it out, so I went for the koolance PMP500, over the D5. It was about £68 and comes with a high power top, and a built in heatsink. From several reviews, it beats the D5 in performance but is about 2 decibels louder. It is a sexy looking bit of kit too.

I can also vouch for the Monsta 240 not being enough for cpu and a gpu loop, as I tried it with mine.I added an Alphacool ST 30 360mm to put in the top of my Phantom, I would of liked a thicker option, but that was the thickest I could fit without hitting the mother board heat sinks.

Its going into my c70 vengeance so wont be able på fit a 360 rad : / but okay thanks guys, i'll give the PMP500 a look :)

i had the same issue, went for the cheaper pump. instant regret, save for an extra week and get a d5, then youll never need a new pump again, no matter what you put into your loop (or youll be spending so much on your setup that youll need a dual d5 :p)

genesius put a damn aquarium pump in his loop and that thing worked just fine, for a small loop i don't see a problem with this bayres/pump combo.

Aquarium pumps can be pretty strong.

The X20 pump is fine for a single block, but can't cope with multiple ones as it can't force the water through properly. They end up making loud noises and eventually dying. Regardless of flow rate, they don't have enough pressure to deal with multiple blocks.

The X20 makes one hell of a noise once a second block, rad was added. It was one of the noises that is grating, you just can't seem to ignore it, no matter what you are doing, or how loud, your game/movie is playing.
