Is my motherboard bad?

Hi, everyone

I have just completed my new build, and my first self build. So I'm not very experienced.

I have Aorus X370 K7, with a Ryzen 1700 running on the stock Wraith Spire cooler.

After putting the system together, the RGB light on the spire suddenly stopped working at some point Tuesday.

Yesterday, I plugged my CableMod lighting strip into my motherboard on a different header, the RGB/W and it began to smoke, with a burning aroma, after switching it off and on again it lights up, and does work, but doesn't quite sync.

I made sure I had the power supply off before plugging in, and I made sure the ∆ arrow on the led plug went into the ground pin.

I tried resetting the CMOS but that only borked my motherboard, but switching the bios switcher got it running again, but the LEDs are still either dead on the cooler, or random on the strip.

I have a new LED strip on the way, but I'm worried about plugging LEDs onto my board. More worrying though is if this motherboard is a lemon, or it may all be perfectly fine and there's something else I should have done like waiting longer for the power to drain from my motherboard, and I'm just being paranoid.

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

It would appear that the led headers provide more volts than they should, you better email gigabyte about the issue I'm sure they will grant you warranty repair

Yeah that crossed my mind. There are different types of LED strips and they are probably wired differently.
