If you have more fps than the default monitors Hz, tearing effect comes into play and makes your image look very bad, that is the reason they have v-sync in game settings.
You may not feel any difference with those two but just go for E8500 and overclock it, awesome cpu in my opinion. I got one on the mATX bord but it so easy to reach 4Ghz.
