Is it wise to...

Earlier in the week i picked up the latest issue of Custom PC and i was just wondering is it wise to sell newbie's these days full top of the line systems with some extreme cooling systems, is it really that wise to sell them a pc with peltiers and that installed, as surly these things are going to have to have some hefty manuals about the use of them and such as well as refilling the resevoir, because peltiers dont have any safty features do they they're kinda meant to be used by profesional users, isnt it going abit too far these days, as those systems had full insulation on the tubing, and some systems are comming with phase change on them it's abit mad isnt it (btw this isnt a dig at phil, i expect people who have some idea are the ones buying his systems, and with him you know your getting something decent) but isnt this all going abit too far?

Everyone these days is going out and spending £70 on a compact water cooling solution which is normally beaten by a £40 air cooler, its just getting a little too weird now.

I do see your point. I`d like to think that most ppl who are new to the game or new to sub-ambient/ high-end cooling would not introuduce themselves to it in such an expensive way.

Maybe some retailers hope they do...depending on the warranty (which will be from the retailer, not the original component warranty because its been overclocked/alternatively cooled) any damages will make them more money.

:) 'Noobs' should not try anything above air cooling until they are comfortable with the technology they have - they're are less likely to cause any permanent damage to their rigs that way.

Unless the noob is making a purchase under the watchfull eye of someone more experienced to guide them through teh routine stuff that we normally take for granted.

There are still some great air rigs out there and building your own is a great way to learn.

Although water and phase cooled units ahve been around for a number fo years now - the number of noobs is shrinking.

One of the great things about EPUK - is that advice and guidance is only a forum away :)

yeah, but im thinking a newbie wouldnt spend £5k on a system, which those were about, more like £2k at max. the savrow had two tec cooled rads and the gravistar had a chiller, which no newbie would have cos they look ugly, hwich isnt good for n00bs, i agrree, there should be only for experienced users

I personally would feel more comfortable with a relative n00b owning a prommy or vapochill than running TECs, i have always thought that TECs were more dangerous if your pump or relay fails.

Everyone has to learn somehow though, either by owning one or building one (the more fun way :))

And as Mav said, that's why forums like these exist, to help people who need it (i know i do lol)
