Is it any benefit for me to swap my motherboard?

So basically i have one of the Them Asus P8P67 boards. Just the standard one.

Ive had it for a while now with my 2500k but im starting to go off the Colour and design of it.

Now, i like this Board here because its practically all black

My main reason for swapping is for a colour change really, But my question is will it serve me any benefit in performance over the P8P67 i have?

Now some of you will probably be thinking well, why bother buying another 1155 board when 2011 is out?

The reason being is because i dont really want to spend a great deal buying a new CPU to match a 2011 board.

Also, If i was to swap to 2011 whats the going rate these days for i5's 2nd hand? Mines currently sitting on 4.6ghz at 1.344v

The board are pretty much the same, so if you do swap out, it's going to be purely for aesthetics.

If you do go 2011 then I would say you should be able to sell you CPU around the £120 mark as they are sold new for £150.

Ah right, it was the price difference that sort of gave a hint if it would be any better or not as this P8P67 only cost me £75 new from scan about 8months ago, they dont even sell the board anymore

can you link me to your current board so i can see the specs? i can only find the pro and deluxe, i though the standard one was the pro. so i may be wrong.

but i will check if you can send me you mobos specs

EDIT>>>>>>>> just found it and had a look, you will see a performace gain in fact you will probably be able to get higher clocks with that vcore you have on your 2500k (unless it is chip limited) as the GB board has more power phases and judging from reviews it perform better aswell.

also with Z68 you will get the intel ssd cashing if you are wanting to use it.

I quite like the look of this as my build is white/black mixed with blue. But im not sure how well that Brown asus logo would look :/ lol

Also i have another question, is it simply just swapping motherboards out? Should everything on my Harddrives still work as normal? windows ect? I know the cpu and bios will need to be set again since its a new board, I have an SSD for my windows. I also have 2 HDD's in a raid 0 format, would i lose the raid from swapping boards? Ive lost the raid array before somehow which was a pain when i didnt have my ssd.

The Z77 board should be better seen as they are the 3rd generation but not sure as now reviews are out yet. they will support pci 3.0 so that a plus.

if you want you can go for the sabortooth board (has been a very good board in the pass for passed chipsets) and get a intel 3770k (i think that is what it is called) it will not only perform better (not by alot im guessing) but the the cpu i mentioned previously has a 22nm architecture meaning it uses less power and produce less heat to deliver better performance than the 2500k/2600k......

so you would see a better gain getting this mobo (you can still use the 2500k in it btw although it is ivybridge i believe) over the other board.

Swapping boards with the same chipset is generaly fairly hastle free from my experiences, giving driver sweep a run and clearing anything thats different between the boards usualy fixes the little niggles if you get any tho a reinstall of windows would be ideal.

If it fails you were going to get a new mobo anyways. As for HDD issue I heard with win 7 OEM you have to call up MS and they give you a code or something when swapping mobo I'm not sure about the raid though
