Irql_not_less_than_or_equal

This message pops up on my girlfriends computer (this thing is ****ing me off)

Testing the RAM at the moment in my computer and it seems fine. I think the RAM may not have been fully pushed in, it's a very tight fit on the mobo, could this cause this problem? Or if one of the module slots is damaged?

Although the drivers do interact through the memory, the Irql_not_less_than_or_equal tends to come from an unhappy driver often associated with USB devices.

Ok I'll look into that, how should I go about updating all the USB drivers? Through device manager?

Easiest way would be too uninstall all usb drivers then scan for hardware changes, that way it should reinstall all the usb drivers :)

Thing I meant to mention also, is that some usb device NEED to have driver software installed for them 1st. i.e. Printers/scanners etc.

U ~can~ gamble connecting them and relying on windows, especially with vista or 7, but I'd not recommend it.

Had a real pita with an Xp build and a printer cos the user just plugged it in. BSOD every time. Had to rebuild the OS in the end.

Had this similar issue with a samsung external USB DVD , drove me crackers trying to sort it.

I had to do a complete reinstall of the os to rectify the issue

What is normally happening on the PC when it occurs? I had loads of blue screen errors with that message when I first built my PC, tested RAM using Memtest86 and got various numbers of errors each time. Turned out the RAM wasn't compatible with the MB. I'd check it's all properly sitting in each slot and do lots of tests plus read lots of other users experiences before finally deciding it's definitely the RAM though. Loads of people said it was a driver problem, viruses, USB conflicts etc but only 1 said do a detailed RAM test and they turned out to be right. Good luck!

Finally fixed it, just gave her my 2gb Kingston 800 stick and took hers. They both run fine now, so it might have been a compatibility issue with the motherboard.
