I'll agree with you when theres 3G and push email, o a bit cheaper. Other than those 3 it does look like a nice little phone.

It may be fast enough on edge, but theres not much network coverage in the UK, so its not really an issue of speed.

I guess it depends where you live....I work in London and live in Essex and I have no problem with coverage :)

I think there has been a lot of bad press about it because it lacks 3G, can't do video on the camera, etc. But to be honest, once you get one and use it for a bit you just realise how clumsy and prehistoric it makes other phones on the market feel.

I suppose it depends on what you use your phone for. I mean personally I never really saw the benefit of 3G because I never made video calls and the internet (WAP) browsing was painful and slow even on 3G because most of the pages wouldn't load properly. The camera on the P1i was a lot better, but then my Sony Cybershot camera (which is the side of a credit card) is far superior.

Anyway I think what I'm trying to say is that we get hung up on thinking we need certain technologies, but once you use the device, you realise that it does everything so well without needing 3G etc. Oh and it does do push email :)

i mean exchange direct push, from my understanding it doesnt support this. it supports a cut down version (but they say they may improve it). I do need quicker speed and coverage. Where i live in the sticks the edge reception is crap, as you would imagine.

The iPhone is a nice looking gizmo and yes it's an iPod which is a bonus...but it just doesn't do what an all-singing all dancing phone should do. Great browser...if you can wait 1/2 hour for the pages to come up.

Edge coverage sucks around me too but 3G is decent

I won't get an iPhone until it has 3G and some features that match other high end phones

i've had a go on one and tbh i love the interface and the phone, and the keypad texting thing.

but to learn that you cannot send bluetooth files, can't MMS at all, and without a wireless access point the net is painfull on it (but beautiful) i think i'm glad i've got my N95. For what its good for i think i'd rather have another high tech phone like i have now, and get the slimmer, lighter and tbh sexier iPod touch. i mean it comes with wifi, e-mail, net, itunes store, everything the iphone has except the bulk and phone?

and you can get double the memory for the same price as the phone :S

makes sense to me?

Having worked in IT Support (I'm sure a lot of you guys have/do as well) there's nothing I hate more than people who insist on having these kinds of gadgets purely because they are 'trendy'. Just like the Ipod (purposeful lack of Camelcase), it's an MP3 player....not a way of life.... the Iphone is just the same, at the end of the day its just a phone.

There are other gadgets out there that perform at least the same functions, better, which cost less.

OK, so when you turn it the screen rotates, and when you put it in a blender, it blends... What's new?

When you actually look at the specification of it, its really not brilliant at all and IMO the only reason any of Apple's gadgets ever take off is because people are led to believe lies.

Apologies if anyone thinks I'm having a go at them personally, I'm really not. Unless you consider yourself part of the "Mac Community"

Hahahaha this so so much with cherries!

P.S. iPod sucks :p

The reason for that is, there is on 3G network in the states, they are still on 2.5G
Don't you guys have 3.5G HSDPA in the Northern Hemisphere? Way better than 3G imo. I have 3.5G on my Samsung Blackjack and it's awesome, plus the coverage is way better here in Australia.

QFT. I would expect considerably more features before I'd contemplate buying one. I already have an iPod so that side of it doesn't appeal to me personally.

Yeah mate sure have...great phone ;) Nah I'm still running the default WM5 atm. My telco has promised a free upgrade to WM6 as soon as it's made available to them.

I have found that not working in an environment that requires corporate productivity makes the iPhone one hell of a great choice. Yes the iPhone lacks quite a few of the advanced features of true PDA phones or smart phones. But at the same time I can think back to when I had my smart phone and I didn't use any of the features it was capable of. For me, the iPhone is so intuitive, with just the things I'm likely to use, it makes it a great choice for me.

I can't wait to get switched over and rockin' on the iPhone!

Wow I tilt my phone and the display tilts with it! Gees man, it's like seeling you

because it has sprinkles on it. Yes shiny but you really shouldn't get your hands on it.

It's all personal preference though isn't it.

I didn't buy the iPhone because it has coverflow and can tilt the screen when I turn it. I bought it because there are two things that I carry when I go to work, my iPod and my mobile phone.

I had the Sony K750i for about 3 years and never bothered changing it because there was nothing on the market that suited me! I looked at the N95 but didn't like it's interface (personal preference). I didn't need it's GPS because I have sat-nav in my car and I've always used iTunes for my music on my PC. I just liked my iPod for music (I'm not a PC or Apple only fan - I like both) and my phone for making calls.

However the iPhone does what I need it to do. I can check my mail on the move, I can listen to music, I can watch movies, it makes calls and I can get onto the web. Sure there are other phones out there that probably do the internet better (or should I say faster), or have larger capacities, but I just like the iPhone....for me it works.

Yes it's not perfect but at the end of the day, I use all but one of it's features (checking stocks) and I don't think I could say that for any other phone on the market :)

I'm quite a logical person I like things to make sense but the iPod and the iPhone just don't to me. They should not exist :p

Silly Apple for thinking that cell phones and mp3 players aren't logical, I mean it's not like we live in 2007 where everyone has a cell phone or an mp3 collection that they might want to listen to on the move. And the ability to do both on the same device? PREPOSTEROUS I SAY!
