IOS 7 help!!

Last night i upgraded to ios 7 but then when i was doing the setup ios 7 wants me to insert a sim card in order to continue. The problem is that i dont have a sim card is there a way i can bypass the activation? i have already tried to voicemail method and it doesnt work. Plzz help
 
nope you need a sim card fella.

I assume you 'restored' the phone.. not just upgraded?

I may be completely out of line for saying this but why would you ask about Apples iOS 7 on OC3D when... lets face it there are dedicated websites for phones and apps i.e XDADevelopers, Apple Forums even.

If I'm out of line I'm sure Tom or one of the Admin will delete this.
 
i have an iphone 4s here with no sim card. i am resisting upgrading to ios7 just in casse i wants me to activate the phone again
 
i wouldnt bother mate. 95% sure you'll need to activate and until a JB is released for it you'll be stuck
 
If it's already activated and you HAVE NOT restored from an IPSW file, and you just run the software update (on the device) I'm fairly sure you'll be fine.

The thing that's buggered your activation is restoring the phone from an ipsw. That resets your activation.

If you upgrade using the built in software upgrade on the device you should be fine.

We don't mind helping everyone :) We have a plethora of experts on here in many fields, no harm in asking.

While we're on the subject of iOS7 does anyone actually like it? I really, really don't and even more so as I've done some development on it recently..

I really dont like it either. My The New iPad is def more sluggish since the update. I dont like that the tones have changed either. I loved it the way it was before. Jobs wanted to destroy android it seems the new guy wants it to be android

I like it, looks much fresher but there was nothing wrong with iOS6. I've put it on my iPod and my Mum's iPhone but I might keep my iPad at iOS 6 for now. It seems they have found a security flaw in the lock screen already though. F sake, that means ANOTHER update will be inbound shortly.

I wouldn't say fresh so much as plain.. it has so many inconsistencies in the design language compared to 6 and previous.

I do agree however that they pretty much just cherry picked stuff from Android that they didn't have, redesigned it a bit and dumped it in, then made all buttons text instead...

Just not feeling this one :(

I get what you mean by plain, it does feel that way and sort of empty. I do quite like it though but it annoys me when they make a mistake and then release another update, it's a right pain in the arse when you need to do it for multiple devices.

I've not used any of the new features yet, probably won't either tbh lol. I did quite like the new screen when quickly double pressing the home screen to see open apps. It could of been because my eyes were tired but the icons and windows move slightly when you tilt the device different ways, kind of looked 3D. Took me a minute to realise it wasn't just my tired eyes though. Not anything special and new, my Sony Xperia Z can display all the windows open as do most phones but ah, thought it was nice looking.

As for design language, I couldn't comment on that. :p

You only need a SIM if you restore it as a "new" device. Updating does not need a SIM, or at least it hasn't in the past. Having said that you should be able to activate it over WiFi. Go back to the start and try connecting to a wireless network that has internet access.

I like iOS 7. It definitely needs tweaking in places as it seems undesigned or rushed. I think Apple just wanted to prove that they are looking to move forward now that they have moved around the staff and sacked Fostell (or whatever his name was). You can say whatever you like about where the features came from, bottom line is Android is a copy of iOS to begin with. I'm looking forward to see what the developers in the Jailbreak community come up with.
 
you can't activate the phone via wi-fi it needs phone signal for it. Only iPads can be done via wifi.
Doesn't matter if you restore as new or old, if you push a new ipsw to it, it'l need activating.

lol, that's not true is it? Look at the interface and menu implementation in android compared to iOS up to this point and you'll see that's pretty much incorrect. THey are designed for the same end-user so of course there are going to be similarities, they need to do the same thing so naturally SOME things are going to kinda work the same. It would be ridiculous to expect them to do it a completely different way.

My issue with iOS 7 is that they claim it's a 'great new ground breaking feature' that's been in Android for.. months/years.

Now this is coming from someone who was the guy that said 'Get an iPhone you don't need anything else, end of conversation'. Now a converted Android user...
You can't judge either of these against each other until you've actually used them.
 
I love them both, I had iOS first with the iPhone 4, and I've had an S3 and a Sony Xperia Z and I can't say anything really bad about either.

Honestly the only reason I went Android is because at the time I felt like I'd bought a second iPhone when I got an iPad, I just never made use of it (it's a contracted one with 15GB aswell) so I didn't fancy paying £29 a month for nothing. But Android is really cool as well, from now on it'll just be a case of which is the top smartphone at the time...unless one of them goes really poo for some reason.

Edit: One thing I would say with Apple is their batteries are great. The S3 was, well mediocre especially if I went to my Sisters for some reason battery would drop half in a few hours! The Xperia Z is much better than the S3. Oh and since having a Xperia Z, I put my S3 on a couple of weeks ago, the damn thing wouldn't even charge?!?!

I really like most of the changes. There's really only a few things I don't like. I hate the new design of the calendar. In email, they changed from swiping left to right, to swiping right to left, to delete a message. Small issue I know, but it's going to take some time to retrain my muscle memory. This type of design style that everyone seems to keep calling new is frustrating. Websites that use it are hard to navigate. It's difficult to tell one section from the next. Contrast in colors and a simple border now and again really set things apart and make navigation much easier. Not being able to change the color scheme in ios7 is pretty damn stupid IMO. The only customization you can do as far as that goes is to use the accessibility options to go to a high contrast mode.

At first the transitions, animations, and bright white screen made me sick. I literally had motion sickness from using my phone for the first day. I'm passed that now thankfully and am enjoying most of the tweaks.

Android is a blatant copy. Do you not remember phones pre iPhone? It's become more it's own now, but only because no one at Google was holding progression back.

These ground breaking features have been present in the Jailbreak community just as long as they've been in Android, if not longer with some of them. Just because Google ship them first doesn't mean it's theirs.

I do own an Android device (Desire S running stock Android) and i think its shit to be honest. I much prefer my iPhone and iOS, especially when i have a Jailbreak and i can tweak it.
 
i decided to give ios7 a go, the phone was a freebie 4s from my dad he doesnt need, and my galaxy s3 is my main phone, so i thought i would give this ios7 a go, now i have not rly got to know ios6, but i like the design of this new ui. i like how in the up-swipe menu you can control the main things. and in the down-swipe menu you have notifications,
