Ionicle share the list I prepped for you with the forum.

I guaruntee they'll approve with my decisions more than eguys choice of part's.

A few of the parts include....

The same case, the same hdd, keyboard, mouse...

but with a different platform

the DFI nF4 Ultra Infinity (the infinity line of DFI is the lanparty w/out the uv & crap, same oc)

3000+ venice

2x512mb ocz value

and a msi 6800 pci-e.

But why? Don't you get it, Ionicle--Eguy?

It's a waste of $$.

A 3GHz P4 isn't much of an improvement over a 3000+ Newcie, if at all!

And the video card, a 6600?

Ionicles 9800 Pro, @ the clocks he has it at now, would rip a 6600GT a new one...and a stock 9800 Pro owns the regular 6600 anyway.

It's actually a worse compy for the money.

Why not try and give him double the performance or close to.

If he gets a socket 939, he will have upgradability.

He will have the choice of X2 in the future, and a 3000+ Venice, runs cooler, and will be almost twice the processor his 3000+ Newcastle is, and better than the P4.

Why? It has dual channel ram, a faster HTT, etc.

And the 6800 I chose for him, is a hefty upgrade over the 9800 Pro, and the whole computer is only about $35 more.

You're was $777, mine is something like $802.

And the video card has a rebate, so the total system price is about the same, while he is getting better performance in every area.

CPU, VGA, which turns into overall system pwnage.

erm, horribly wrong there nick, having owned botth i can tell you my stock 6600gt rips the clocked 9800pro a new one.

but having said that personally I, you and many people on this forum would prefer the amd setup.

but when was the last time u saw ionicle ripping up css. im not sur ehe plays any games at all and so why waste money on a 6800?

so without gaming that leaves him with all the disadvantages of an amd. i personally would recommend intel to ionicle if i was presented with his comp usage habits, and im sure you would aswell nick.

i am not doubting your comp is good, jeeze id love it and so would you, bu try to remember the client.

as for upgradability lga775 has dual cores and on ionicles budget it will take him til next christmas to afford one of those, so i dont think an X2 is a good reason to go 939, especially on his budget.

but i say it once this thread and i say it again....new things will come out and prices will change by xmas. so give it a rest and come back to it then :)

btw this post kinda sounded like a rant, although it isnt. and to prove it...

:):):):):):):):):):):)

hm, they both have there merit, but either way, its virtually a new system, so either way i could have a backup syste, asmuch as i want to try an intel out to see if it is faster at general windows things, i also know that amd's are trustworthy and usually deliever good performcance for the price so...
