Interview Tomorrow @ Toys R Us

Just a little update on this, I turned the job down at Toys R Us due to them not wanting to budge at all to fit the hours around my college course.

Anyway I applied for Argos, Virgin Megastore and BHS and went for a group interview at argos last week, very similar to the one I did at Toys R Us but a little more fun. Anyway I got a call from them yesterday asking me to go down this morning, I have just got back and I have the job !!!

Its £4.89 an hour and I have to do 3 to 4 weeks training first before I can start, the store i am working in doesnt open until the 27th of November and isnt open any late hours but is right next to college so means I still have a social life because I wont be working any late nights.

I start next week and will be doing 5 till 10 every weekday for 3 weeks until I am fully trained and then I start at the new store.

Bring on the cash :D

See, this is the difference between people who look for 1 job a year and those willing to get off their arses and actually do something.

Even with the timing constraints of college, Hyper`s on the case.

Some people have 24 hours a day in which to find something and prefer the couch.

Agree with you Rast 100%

Good on ya Sam, hope the job is cool. Always good to see people willing to go and work whilst in Education, it really gives you the edge when it comes to getting that 1st job :)

Yeah go Sam!!! (I'm sam too :p)

I'm juggling two jobs whilst in college and soon to be three (I dont like doing the same job over and over :p), washing cars @ £6 an hour for one day (8 hours) which is my day off...Woolworths on saturdays for 4 hours @ £4 an hour and soon to be a new local pub/diner as a waiter :p

lol - need to axe one i reckon but at £6 an hour - that will be staying :p

Christmas is gonna be busy for both of us at work isnt it sam? ^^

congrats!!!

I would so be on the couch, but when you get that little bit older you realise its something you have to do and it gets you out and about meeting new people.

Thanks lads, Yes I get staff discount but its only 10% but its better than nothing I suppose and as for xmas I have been told this Argos take nearly 1 million pound each day

Hate to drag an old thread up but I just got some bad news today.

I heard rumours last week that they were getting rid of most of the Weekend staff after xmas and this appears to be true. Me and another girl got pulled into the office today and were handed letters basically saying our contract wasnt getting renewed after the 24th of December.

Now the manager wasnt in today so I couldnt ask why this is but I am in next Saturday so will be questioning her then. I really enjoy my job, have never been off and have only been late once but it was only by a few minutes.

Totally gutted

Thats the corporate world for ya man :(

Im giving up my Woolworths job asap tbh - dont feel appreciated enough and they always want more

Got a job at a local pub/diner and every night i work i go home feeling appreciated and well treated - fun too

Working at a local car sales is pretty good - wash cars, £6 an hour plus i basically never get checked on, have a break wen u need it kinda thing. (Y)

Ive learnt my lesson now

Don't worry too much about it dude. They just need people to fill in over xmas so they don't overwork the staff that have been there a longer time than you...

At least you got some cash and experience which is a good thing for your next potential employers to see! Get job hunting in the new year tbh :p, I shall be doing the same!
