hello

last thing i would need to know;)

i gonna update my pc but i don't wanna update it every year
so would i go for the new 1150 with 4770K etc..

or would i go for the 2011 socket and dunno when they would change that to newer version?

i would go for the 3820 to start and if the 2011 socket would be over for some years i would maybe update it to a high end one;) like the 3970 but i need to do big upgrade now atm new cpu psu gpu ddr3 etc;)

I'd go 1150 over the 2011 setup if you are considering the 3820. While ivy-e is due the 1150 setup would also set you for broadwell as well which would be 2 generations ahead of ivy-e. Also the 3820 isn't the best of 2011 CPUs and many a forum member would recommend an i7 3770k ahead of it.

more then gaming ;) need to render movie's etc need to use it for picture edit's from my work and gaming will be done also:P just wanted to know because the 3820 is bit cheaper then the 4770K:) but ill put to the 1st thing i wanted and go insane then with a g1 sniper from 1150^^ and i wanna get this one for the 9 fan plugs ^^ lol got to many fans in my pc:p

thx already;)

As much as I love my 3820, I'd recommend you go for a 4770K plus you should be able to get cheaper boards for 1150. The only reason I went 2011 is I got given the board.
You should really be plugging your fans right into your PSU to be honest, saves a lot of cables going to the board.

well i got 6 140mm fans and 2 240mm if i'm right:) and maybe ill go air cooling on cpu again and will get 1 extra 140mm so would need a good psu then :)

The only way I'd opt for 2011 is if you're getting the 3930K. The extra cores and cache will come in handy with your video work.

Even then, it would still be more likely that I'd pick the 1150 and an i7. It'll be faster in everything else since it's faster clock for clock and will still shred thru any multithreaded applications you've got. All while costing $200 less.

So yeah, i7-4770K would be the chip I'd choose in your shoes.

Hey Danger, unless you're picking up 3930k or better for 2011, stick with 1150 mate :)

I was tempted with 3820 and 2011

but went in the end Z77 + 3770k - and have been very pleased - I'm glad I went Z77 - I got a very decent board (Asus Gene V at lower price than the 2011 boards I was looking at) - and the 3770k performance is excellent

do I slightly wish I'd spent 200 more and gone 3930k and 2011 ? maybe - but built cost was already getting silly expensive

if quad - I'd go Haswell :)
