Intel will formally announce that it has begun shipping its dual-core Pentium processors on Monday (April 18), the company said Friday. "We are now confirming that [our] first-ever dual core PCs — our processors and chip sets — will be shipping from OEMs starting Monday morning," Intel spokeswoman Shannon Love said in an email. "For some time, this date had been set to coincide with the eve of the official 40th anniversary of Moore's Law." "Go Gordon MOORE :) basically Moore observed an exponential growth in the number of transistors per integrated circuit and predicted that this trend would continue."

Intel's desktop dual-core roadmap includes three other processors designated Pentium D. They are the models 820, 830, and 840, with clock speeds of 2.8 GHz, 3.0 GHz, and 3.2 GHz, respectively. All have 800 MHz front-side buses and dual L2 caches of 1 MB in capacity. The processors also support Intel's EM64T 64-bit instruction-set extensions.

Man would i like to see what performance I could pull out of one of these babies. Oh wait I forgot its Intel. Lets just see another nail in the coffin from AMD :)

Let me just go ahead and quote from hexus before this thread even begins

Details of the Pentium Extreme Edition 840 have, up till now, been well hidden...

AMD exclusively reveal that the CPU is to be named the AMD Athlon 64 X2

It will be available at least in the following models:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+

"The flagship AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ will have both its cores operating at 2.4GHz, the same frequency as the AMD Athlon 64 4000+, and we'll be surprised if this doesn't rape the already impressive Pentium Extreme Edition 840."

can we say DROOL :) :)

Well I wanted to get the thread going cause we all love AMD unlike some people :)

One post is enough to get a thread going, maybe you should consider getting some help if you fall in love with components :)

seems to me your not even interested in the topic, are you hiding your own personal love of amd as well

I don't love any company ;)

However I do know that AMD is kinda whipping Intels arse atm, but I think saying that AMD are sticking nails in Intels coffin is going a bit far.. Intel will come up with something :)

I don't know about Microsoft lol

Them and their tracking things.. No private information will be collected my arse

Someone should design an AMD specific OS so that AMD can change the architecture of the processor to be even more efficient than it already is and really start pwning everyone else :D

Intel can stay coupled at the hip with MS and go down in a massive ball of flames. muahahaha.

Ok so that's never going to happen but boy would that be awesome :)

Considering the problems intel have had gettin the majority of their recent chips in the shops/To OEMS thake that APR 18th releasedate with a pinch of salt (pinch in the respect of bout 50KG worth :) )

they are shipin chipsets and cpus to OEMs so that mean if ya want 1 u r stuck with a dell

basically all we have is 2 prescotts stuk together (hey intel listen up SHORTEN THE PROCESSING PIPELINE), and does ne 1 no when a mobo that will be released that will support the things?;

AMD will soon be ready with their dual core babies that can work in current sockets (BIOS update reqd tho :( )

Yea rite well as long as they dont take ur full name when monitorin how u use ur pc that would be true (silly tho they take ur PID no and when regesterin that they take ur name)..BTW can ne 1 say alexa (spyware in IE)lol

Yeh it would lmao. Intel IS too close to MS, no wonder they both suck.

yea sadly MS and Intel do share such a close relationship bak in the old days (shortly after Windows was released) PCs were oftern reffered to WINTEL boxes thank god for linux and AMD eh

Hmm, tell me how Intel suck? :)

You have an AMD that is way better than your old Intel and suddenly you decide they suck, get 2 processors that are comparable to compare with before you start saying that.

Someone has inflamed Austins e-penis ;)

so what are we talking about the dual core extreme edition?

nothing is really hidden - THG did a whole overview on them - dual cores with HT operating at 3.2ghz - can you say FOUR, count em FOUR logical CPU's... now put that in your pipe and smoke that dank shit motherfuckin AMD :bootyshak
