Far Cry 4 Does Not Support Dual-Core Processors. Is the Pentium K and other dual cores good enough for Today's gaming?

Its a shame as the Pentium is a beast but to be honest, I'm surprised this is only just starting to happen. I'd imagine this will be the same case with GTA V.

-edit-
I'm also pretty sure far cry has odd cpu usage anyway and effectively is partially single threaded (look at core usage when driving around for example) so this doesn't make much sense.

So, does this mean that the 860K and the FX-6300 beat the Pentium K in the budget range or what? It was a bit of expected wasn't it. We couldn't just hope that devs would be that lazy and never explored the fields of multicore processing.
It will also breath life into the older 4core machines like mine (On a intel Quad and a hd7770 I'm running BF3 multiplayer on high settings 55fps buttersmooth)

I can't get it to run on the Pentium K at all, had issues at first getting it to just load the menu, now it just won't run at all for me. i5 soon me thinks.

EDIT: This is as far as I get. :(

i am pretty sure its an artificial limit like COD AW had, untill the modded .exe was released and it turned out the pentium had absolutely no issues with running it at stable 60fps maxed out, and because its ubish** title i am more than inclined to think so, also the fact that the pentium can run AC Unity at max settings aswell without issues

If I remember rightly Unreal Tournament III had similar issues back in the day with Single core CPUs and it out right failed to acknowledge dual core AMDs until they released the DualCore Optimiser.

i've just finished the 2nd ack and about to start the mission "Don't Look Down" and now my game didn't load the next part of the cutscene, i restarted the game and not I'm back to the open map without being about to do any of the missions and the mini map doesn't show up... it's the same look as if you was watching a cutscene...
it's a real pain in the ass as i'm 41% of the game done and don't want to restart the game all over again :(

Welcome to Ubisoft !

I think you should edit your title to: Does not support Dual Core or Quad Core processors...

OK, ive been on this all week since release day, & I'm telling you, their forums are on fire! Ive been suffering from this broken game since release day, & just nothing I do, seems to work, & im not the only one.

  • Game wont load with 0xc00007b errors
  • Game wont load with 0xc000005 errors
  • Game wont load with black screen
  • Game wont load with UPLAY unable to patch the game
  • Game may run for 5-45 minutes before crashing
  • No sound
  • SLi ghosting problems
these are just "some" of the problems that have surfaced since it was released. I believe there have been 3 patches, which steam users & the UPLAY launcher is meant to pick up on, & update as necessary. This is NOT happening.

for me, im getting the 0xc00007b error, apparantley this was due to a Direct X issue with D3DX9_43.DLL where by deleting that file, then running DXSETUP would replace that file.

For some users it worked, for others, it did not, & likewise for me. I still have not played this game, it wont let me. Forums moderators harp on about contact UBi support via their ticket system, but the amount of posts ive come across where 4 days on, there has been no response is somewhat shocking.

So I URGE anyone that maybe considering getting this game, or ANY TITLE from Ubisoft, NOT to wast your money. Apparantly, its bad coding from what I hear, & something to do with CPU cores.

below is a link should anyone want to start sifting through the mess.

By the way, ive downloaded this twice, 28GiG at a time, 8 hours each to try & resolve this issue, but if all files are corrupt, then downloading & reinstalling a million times wont change anything. Verifing files as they also tell you to do, does nothing.

Surely you mean does not support Dual core or weak quad core processors (or anything with very weak cpu cores)? The coding is pretty lazy and the cpu usage is dumb. It deffo relies on stronger individual cpu cores over access to multiple cores.

The Ubi forums are ablaze with people complaining about the stutter, Even people with some monster rigs.

As far as I'm concerned Ubi can shove their games right up their Kyrat !

What a mess once again! gg ubisoft.

Also find it kind of sad that the 4 big games they released this year all have the radio, clock tower mechanic as a collectible thing and to uncover parts of the map, copy paste much?
