Intel Exits Motherboard Market

begging the question, Why even buy an Intel board in the first place?

Not a new question to ANY enthusiast tbh,we have been saying that for years(minus Skulltrail ofc)

Hopefully Intel will spend more time focusing on their Processor with Enthusiasts, allowing Intel to produce more / higher overclockable processors.

With any luck they partner up with a reputable motherboard manufacture and dish out some amazing systems and bundles.

That said, I think we all knew Intel and their motherboards were coming to an end.

Cheers, for the heads-up btw.

Nothing that concerns most users of this forum and enthusiasts in general. I don't really know what was Intel marketshare for the lower segments or for office computers, but also in that case I don't see a big revolution with Intel departure

I thought some of the Intel boards got good reviews though and were actually pretty good boards???

I never used one myself or even thought about buying one but, I know some people do and use them because they offer most of the features of more expensive boards just without the price tag that goes along with it.

The Intel boards themselves, to my knowledge, were quite good... just overpriced and under optioned in comparison to other boards from other manufacturers. Basically the significance of this news means that jobs and their titles get reallocation, as well as funding that was initially allocated towards motherboard R&D. As it looks right now it seems that the funding is going more hXc into their processor architecture and micro form factor products like their AIO mini computers/tablets/etc. Means nothing to the enthusiast initially, since we have tons of options still available without Intel boards, but moving forward this means more promising and forward-thinking silicon that can do more for us for less operating costs due to less power being required to produce even more performance.
