Intel D 805 and DFI 875p-t motherboard

Is it possible to use the CPU Intel D 805 2.66GHz in my Lanparty 875p-t motherboard?

If it can will I see much difference over my Intel Pentium 4 540J 3.2 GHz?

I'm hoping to over clock the Intel D 805 2.66GHz to about 3.4GHz.

Thanks

Dya know I'm not sure just how much difference you would see with a P4 D @ 3.4GHz and a P4 @ 3.4Ghz

But having said that I'm pretty sure the 875 does not support dual core

No, I don't think you'll get a Dual Core chip on that board. I don't think they are even releasing new BIOS's for it now are they?

Plus not sure they can physically support it

What a shame I like this board.

What do you think about the Asus P5VDC-X will it do and is it any good?

Its only cheap and might be a good start.

I wouldn't bother changing that awesome board just for a P4 D

If you're gonna change it then get a Core2Duo and an abit AW9D Max

If not then overclock that P4 to t3h Max :p

I thought about overclocking but I've not had much success, not sure why.

I need a new PSU at the moment before trying to overclock again. I don't think this Magna 600w is up to much. My Antec Truepower 550w blow up the other day.

Motherboard DFI Lanparty 875p-t

memory OCZ 2 X 512MB PC3200 Platinum LTD Edition matched pair

Intel Pentium 4 540J 3.2 GHz Stock fan/heat-sink

Graphics MSI GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256MB

The board was built for me to overclock but I could never get it above 205Mhz bus without locking up. I'm sure it should of done a better overclock than that.

Yeah i'd replace that PSU and then get overclocking that baby.

I had pretty much the same setup as you and managed to get my 560J up to 4.6ghz on the 875P-T

What were you using for the CPU cooler?

I am thinking about the Artic Freezer 7 Pro, mainly because its quiet.

Just had a look for the revision and it doesn't say all it says is.

PC3200

512MB Dual CH

Platinum LTD Edition

2-2-2-7

PN: OCZ4001024ELDCPLE-K

Is there any other way of telling what revision they are?

Does it make a difference what revision they are?

I was using the Coolermaster Hyper6 + 2x Tornado fans. There are much better coolers out than that now like the Freezer 7 or Scythe.

I was told there should be a review on the Freezer 7 on here in the next day or so. Should be interesting how it performs. Nice overclock.

Kempez

You asked what revision my memory was and it didn't say I posted the details whats wrote on them above.

Just had a look on there site and where there should be a R in the PN number there isn't one.

Does this mean my memory is revision 1 and what difference does it make?

Thanks

Rev 1 was "ok" for overclocking but Rev 2 was TCCD and was awesome for overclocking.

Loosening the tmings should be able to get you a fair way tho :)

If I loosened the timing from 2-2-2-7 what would you recommend to change them to?

Would you know if these were BH-6 or BH-5?

I just couldn't resist. I know the tests have to be over several hours with no errors but this is the closest I've got to an overclock so far. I have never taken the Dimm voltage over 2.9 volts before and always had errors occur.

It past memtest86 for ten minutes on #5 without any errors running @ 3.6Ghz, 225x16, Dimm 3.2 volts, don't know if 3.2 volts is safe for this memory but that is the max it will take or go before errors occur.

Memory timings are 2-2-2-7

Can someone tell me the max safe voltage for my CPU?

CPU it at 1.4 volts at the moment.

It all had to be done by raising the bus speed, I don't think this CPU can have the multiplier change or not.

For the past 30 minutes I have been running StressPrime orthos 2004 with no errors and Prime95with no errors.

CPU Temp is @ 63'C on Stock heat-sink and fan using Arctic Silver Ceramique.

Throttle watch is showing no TM1 throttling unless it needs to be turned on in Bios I don't know what to look for to change that.

Am I doing this the right way?

Is there anything else that I can try out to increase the overclock?

3.2v is not really safe for that RAM. I would say stay below 2.9v

225 x 16 should be easy for the RAM @ 2.5-3-3-7 or something

Try upping the FSB and loosening the timings like the guides tell you to

Well, it depends what chips the RAM have. BH-5 love volts, so if it's that, yes 3.2 is fine (I think). If you do want to run it at though, I'd say it would be smart if you have some active cooling on those babies. Have an 80mm or 120mm fan blowing over em and they should be happy :) We should have a look see at what chips are in those

Edit: Well, looks like these things are BH6. So... you would be fine running 3.2ish I think, but ya, if you don't care too much about eeking everything out of them, just run them at 2.8v and be happy. They be limited edition things :) Review: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1542&page=1
