Integrated Graphics Cards

How does the Intel GMA 900/950 integrated card stack up with the other integrated graphics cards out there?

Also, how does it stack up against standalone cards? (ie upto which point would it surpass a standalone card?)

yeah it would be horrible for any kind of games really, watching dvd's and stuff would be fine but other than that, nope! also a downfall to them is that they can cain your memory

Thats a dam good point. A friend of mine was on intergrated and for the life of me i could figure out why he he only had 440sumthingMB of ram. put in an old Geforce 4 MX and regained the 128 it was stealing.

alright well, ignoring the fact it'll eat up ur system RAM (or parts of it), what non-integrated card would it be able to match? I read some through some benchmarks which showed the Radeon 9600 walkin all over it, would that be accurate? Also, what would the nvidia non-integrated equivelant be? And are there integrated vid card competitors to the intel line, and how would they fare?

Nvidia's NF4 Intel lineup have gforce 6100/6250's in them and they would wipe their backside with that POS
LOL harsh but true :rollingla I'd be going dedicated graphics card over integrated anyday, just my 0.02c worth. My sons P3 computer has integrated graphics and it sux balls majorly

how about the ATI integrated graphics m/bs?

I played Jedi Academy (a Quake 3 engine game) playably on Intel 855GM (64MB shared) graphics for some months. I had to put it at 800x600, low detail, but definitely playable. I determined that the CPU (2.6 Celeron) was limiting me more than the graphics, because the more ppl in the server, the lower my fps. I could get 28fps or so with 2-3 players present, but I'd drop to ~10 when more than 8 were present. But certainly anything newer than Q3 engine kills integrated. I agree it's about on the level of a GeForce 2.

It depends on what gfx chipset is used... The standard x200/300 (i think thats the base ingtegrated chipset) sucks some mad ass. But, some of the board have integrated x700 gfx chipsets which are actually pretty damn nice.

The office computer I built for my mom has the x700 and it runs games quite well actually! I also think that it has dedicated video memory (64 or 128mb if I'm not mistaken).

My old 3ghz p4 laptop had the Intel Integrated Extreme Gfx w/ 128mb of shared video memory and it played a lot of newer games at low res with all detail settings turned to low. It can be done, it's just not pretty.

What boards carry the x700 integrated graphics card? =/

usually...expensive ones:( well, dont expect to get a board with good inbuilt video for peanuts, because lets face it, all boards with video built in are micro Atx, which are more of a beginner builders/ office computer board. no board with a built in gfx card is going to be good for games. I'd say that the intel video you asked about would be about the same as a gf2/gf4mx ( those 2 cards are actually prety similar)

Some what off topic but hopefully Integrated Graphics are going to get one hell of a boost when Fusion is released:wavey:
