Dude 4 Freaking awesome rigs. Congrats. Also what is the big fan on top of the gtx480 tri sli and does it improve the temps a lot (cuz im running gtx580 tri sli and they get hot)

i am not single

i have a steady gf but we are in two separate parts of the state that finance wise i only have to supply for myself. Which is a good thing because i get to hold onto my wallet when she is not here.

the picture is not updated. i made a small mod to the side panel and made a cut out that perfectly outlines the fan. idle temp wise it only drops my temps 1-3*c. Assuming it pushes air more effectively to the rear exhaust.

Also is tri sli worth it for gaming as due to what some reviews say only some games can benefit from a sli setup? I would think one 480 would be adequate for all games at most resloutions that people have.

Any substance to these reviews or just peoples opinions??

The atcs with the tri sli is the one system i am having the identity crisis with. I use to do rendering with it so i had it loaded with 24gb of ram but to answer your question it was once a dedicated folding rig but now is a more gaming dedicated computer. Being that I rarely use it for everyday applications since my time for gaming has significantly declined. I currently use my laptop and antec build for work.

For tri-sli, its great for some games but really bad for others. For modern warfare 2 its really inefficient in that the cards flux readily between 100-300 frames. Makes the fans go crazy and i find myself with most games that i have to limit my frames to 60 so it doesnt go berserk. Tri-Sli is not worth it, especially with games currently out there that cant fully utilize the upscales properly. Crisis 2 though should be something i will test out but until than i recommend a single setup or sli to be sufficient for a standard 1080p res.

This is purely my exp so you might want to run additional searches
