Does anyone know what apple's policy is regarding upgrading parts in the imac. I'm guess it voids the warranty?
I'm just annoyed you pay another £120 for £50 worth of ram and another £150 for a £90 hard drive. this isn't discounting the old part that wouldn't be fitted.
But I`d buy the extra stuff myself and install them myself.
I haven`t come across any macs that have "warranty void if removed/broken" security type stickers over screws or anything - but that could be cos they`ve been stripped b4 we get them or something.
Have seen a few strange shaped screws, but nothing too strange that a regular bit set can cope with.
However I think u`r correct that if u at some point take an iMac back to an Apple store or something and they find ocz memory in it or a different flavor hard drive, without some kind of installation ticket, they`ll probably hand it back to u or charge u more.
I`d just keep the original kit in a safe place for such instances.
My mum recently bumped hers from 1GB to 2GB using a family friend who fixes them for pcworld. He didnt mention anything about voiding the warrenty just ask in the store you got it from.
cool, thinking about getting the 24" one with 3.06Ghz C2D and the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB. I've not been keeping up with the graphics card, what level would you say its at?
