I'm curious about De-lidding.

Has anyone got links to accurate info about de-lidding?

I know absolutely nothing about it but I am curious and want to do some research on the subject.

Loads of info on Google, but basically it's a way of cooling your Haswell CPU more effectively by placing your cooler directly on the die itself rather than the heat spreader (the "lid").

Only needed if you are going for an extreme overclock and temperatures are excessive.

From seeing some vids/reading i can understand delidding, however i wouldn't go near a £170 chip with a brick and a vice! :p Or a scalpel :p

not necessarily, delidding just means that you take the metal shroud off and replace the TIM, some people place the cooler directly on the CPU and others put the metal shroud back on.
either way, especially when overclocking the temp differences are quite impressive, i wouldn't want to void my warranty though.
