I7-3930k Overclocking

ive given up on speedstep when i do get it to work it creates system instability but now windows doesnt load for ages completely used to take about 5-10 seconds to log in now take 3-4minuets its getting stupid, this was meant to be a upgrade but its more like a downgrade.

also sometimes like 4/5 boots it sits at the bios splash screen for up to 3 minuets before booting other times it goes through normaly.

Run msconfig and under the 'general' tab select diagnostic start up. Reboot, and see if that makes any difference.
Also, look at your startup tab - are there any unnecessary programs that may be delaying your boot?

the thing is apart from the settings in BIOS Vcore, ratio and memory speed i havnt changed anything else from when windows was working properly.

will try what you said though

I read that you reset your BIOS, does this mean that you cleared the CMOS?
If so, then did your boot go back to normal after you did this?

no its still temperamental.
the msconfig thing sped it up a little but when selecting normal start up goes back to doing it again.
going to try a system restore this is the last thing im trying after that AMD is going back in.

Most odd.
I know that when I tried to re-flash my BIOS via USB stick, the file on it must have corrupted (the USB stick is fairly old now) and I had some strange system instability on the back of it. A fresh download of the latest BIOS and a new flash, and it was all back and running again.
May be worth trying?

Yes I tried flashing BIOS

No I didn't reinstall windows cause it was fine but I did try but windows would let me
How would windows effect the BIOS?

Windows wouldn't even let you install?

Are you sure your hard drive isn't just messing up and that is causing all these slow boot issues and other problems? I'd check the health on it.

Also when changing architectures from AMD to Intel it is recommended to reinstall Windows. I've never had good luck switching a disk from AMD to Intel or Intel to AMD using the exact same install of Windows.

Oooh, I assumed that this was an entirely new rig.
Windows wouldn't affect the BIOS, but it would give you the lethargic boot scenarios.
A clean install is needed.

I have a rampage IV extreme and a 3930k, speedstep works in balanced power mode but not in performance... issue SOLVED. I am currently at 4.0Ghz@1.24v 40 x 100.00mhz with ram at 1866mhz cas 9,9,9,24.

INTEL SPEEDSTEPPING IS WORKING FINE (touchwood) no long post screens

just 2 more small issues one i cant enable sterio surround on the X-fi paneli could on the crosshair formula 4

and the gamers first program opens in a windows in the bottom right how can i stop it from opening at startup only load to tray?
