OK right as some of you may know I am only 16 and have a part time job, i had managed to gather some money to buy my rig without leaving me left with nothing each month... so ive been scanning the internet at reviews and prices for my desired components. This is how i can across OC3D back in November!

When i heard of sandy bridge i never thought it would be in my price range until i saw the i5-2300 and my intial thoughts were... oh its the lowest end it muct be awful... now looking at the benchmarks it seemed to be much better than i thought and due to the price, made it eye catching... well i can now confirm that TTL should do an updated budget rig by adding an extra £100 on it making a £700 rig.. yes thats right i have a £700 rig and yet i beliee can perform much better than any previous £700 rig due to sandy bridge...

I must definately point out that if you are on a budget and would like to do a small OC say for instance 300mhz than you can still go for non-K processors! Most people say they are un-overclockable, BUT thats impossible otherwise they would not include the turbo feature... all that is different is that they do not have a ridiculously unlocked multiplier enabling 3.5+Ghz like the K processors. But this definately does not mean that they are rubbish!

I am definately going to get it at 3.1Ghz without turbo so that when turbo kicks in it will reach 3.4Ghz...

And tbh im not much of an oc'er so a non-k cpu is fine for me... well atleast ive paired it with some Mushkin Blackline ay???

Yes but that 40 more £'s would have left me with £60 not £100 to get to college, buy lunch, buy a computer desk, games..etc plus for me it would be a waste as i'll never meet its potential with how i use it, i think the 2300 is just fine for me

I have the 2300 and its a beaut of a processor. I was limited In funds aswell, so the 2300 was the best choice for me. Im running mine at 3ghz and its more than enough for my needs.

Truthfully, as bare as most of the Sandy Bridge CPUs are, for most people out there who aren't enthusiests or need the ultimated machine, these new CPUs are just fantastic for everything. I think for most of us, we just buy what we really need and although there's inflation and prices fluctuate, prices have been driven down a lot and there's such a variety of products. If you need a basic video card, there's a whole selection of them out there to choose from. So, it's all good.
