I think we need some compo ideas

Here are some ideas that i think will work for everybody

For gamers:

For overclockers:

For modders:

For ALL of us:

On a serious note we can really do this stuff. We could have tournaments in CSGO, Dota 2 or whatnot. Someone could just set up a private server easily enough. And there are already so many builds here. A mod contest that's decided by vote. Overclockers that use exotic cooling are hard to come by though so I don't know about that.

Don't know what the most popular game would be right now, it's not BF4 though lol. Also we'd need to play something that is playable for everyone, it might be worth playing Counter-Strike, not the newest, prettiest but still one of the best and everyones rig can handle it.

Could maybe sort a tournament out so that everybody gets a chance to play. Final decisions made by SuB? (Unless you fancy a game Tom? :)

Just an idea.

An in house knockout style gaming tournament could be a good idea it would obviously have to be done over a series of weekends so time difference wouldn't be an issue.

Games would have to be Old school Cheap and Easy to obtain for those that may not have them and guaranteed to run no matter the system someone is using. And obviously without an in game level system so that everyone is on equal footing.

we could have categories like RTS, Fps, Fighting and maybe a sports game of some sort Car Racing springs to mind?

Games like-

RTS: Warcraft 3 TFT, Command & Conquer, Red Alert, Age of Empires II.

FTS: Fear, older Battlefield games, older call of duty, older Medal of Honor, Counter Strike.

Sports: Need for Speed- Underground 1, Need for Speed- Underground 2, Need for Speed- Most Wanted.

Fighting: Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition (it's only like $10 on steam or something)

One game per category to be decided by OC3D, Have epic prizes a top tier component of some sort for first in each category or something even cooler like an OC3D one of a kind item like a Custom OC3D case? (wouldn't be to hard if you got corsair involved for prizes), then Lesser yet still awesome prizes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th in each category.

Prizes would have to be pretty cool to attract alot of entries, And also make the time invested by the players worth it.

Aye that sounds good to me, adds a bit more than just clicking enter and hoping to win. Brings the community together, hopefully will attract more people too as thats the best multiplayer, playing with people you know and talk to regularly.

Might even turn into a weekly/monthly games night for fun.

Overclock Competition

This idea might not be too popular but a small cheap prize like a trophy saying #1/#2/#3 OC3D Overclocker, Awarded to "members name"

Overclock CPU and show the percentage increase - Stock 4670k is 3400MHz so running at 4800MHz is 41% overclock.

Overclock Ram and show the percentage increase - Stock 2133MHz so running at 2800MHz is 31% overclock.

Overclock GPU(s) and show the percentage increase - Stock XFX 7950 Boost is 925MHz on the core and 1250MHz on the memory so running at 1150MHz on the core and 1525MHz on the memory is 24% and 33% overclock, average (24+33/2) = 28.5.
2 GPUs here so 28.5 and 28.5.

4 components here so 41+31+28.5+28.5= 129 / 4 = 32.25% average overclock.

You can add rules like need to show benchmark stability, in which case my results will lower slightly or just boot and get proof.

Design a case competition.

Could be multiple levels, like sketch, paper scan, technical drawing, 3d modelled, actual scale mockup. Etc

All areas need addressed like materials, colouring, artwork, features, BOM, branding etc

I'd even see it to the extent of teaming up or grouping up to cover the different stages of the comp, like there maybe an ideas guy an artist and a builder each progressing the initial idea to the next level etc,

Then maybe even a written review just for the lols.

Just an idea.

how about tom writes a number down some time before a video and we guess the the closest ones if tie gets a small shout out and what ever in a video?

How about who contributes the most points on hwbot for the overclock3d team within a month?

Or better for me, who gets the most cups :p

Pick a number between 1 and 10 million and closest person wins! Obviously the closest number should be within a certain amount.. can't be closest by 800,000 for example and win.. So ya lets do it:p

Or we can have some kind of round system. Like 5 rounds of different things and each round users get eliminated and etc until after the 5th round a handful are left and each get a consolation prize while the main winner gets the grand prize.

In other words, you got to earn it
