Funny part is it hasnt BSOD'd since a while ago, rofl... It still won't post the first time after doing a reboot and has to like go through a hard reboot before it will post.

I have stock vid card BIOS installed now and have returned all speeds to stock, about to reboot and see if that was any part of the problem.

Keep us informed....I'm taking bets now:

CPU screwed: 6:1

Mobo buggered: 3:1

Vid Card Knackered after BIOS flash: 2:1

HDD Dead: 4:1

Memory Murdered: 7:1

Any takers?

Good luck Frag! ;)

I seriously hope its ok!

Cool. Did you get urself a new PSU when your rig fried last time?

Its unlikely but BSOD's and being unable to soft-reboot can be down to your PSU.

I thought that myself too XMS... It may just be time to get that 600w PowerStream, lol.

It's actin' a god damn fool at the moment and I got some pix of my BSOD's, won't let me into windows ATM.

Gimme a few minutes to get the BSOD's up.

Ok, here's what I've got....

BSOD #1 - This is the BSOD that I get (or some variation of it) while Windows is trying to boot.

BSOD #2 - This is the BSOD that I get when Windows is up and then crashes.

Any ideas Jim?

Gah i hate that error. I've only ever had it three times:

1. Gigabyte mobo was shafted

2. Went too far witht he overclock (but we can rule that one out here)

3. My Tagan PSU was on its way out and was providing wank voltages.

OK not Jim but I got that when I was having problems with my old motherboard when it wouldn't let my memory go above FSB 166 on my MSI and XP Proc.....

Maybe its a problem with the memory controller.....you've pushed too many volts through it?

Ok so we're thinkin maybe the PSU is fucked... which i wouldn't doubt, I really don't think a 500w psu is gonna do the long term trick on a comp like mine. 12 fans, 6 of em being fuckin 120mm, and 2 pumps... That alone is enough to kill a fuckin psu.

Or.... I've possibly fried the mem controller on the Winnie? Which memtest runs just fine, I don't think that's it.

Mobo is fine, it does it's job still and doesn't have any real convincing symptons that its the culprit as of right now.

Aight I found a program on Western Digitals site called Data Life Guard which makes its own bootable floppy to run tests on ur HD's.... I'm running the tests now to make sure the HD's are ok.

If the HD's turn out to be ok, the memory has already turned out to be ok (passed memtest), then I would have to suspect psu/cpu... I'm leaning more toward PSU.

600w PowerStream perhaps?

Maybe u could try and find a proggy to fully test your CPU (There must be a DOS based one out there).

600w powerstream would be nice (or a 550w Ryanpower like me )

How bout an 850w PCP&C? rofl

Lemme know if u stumble across a full proc testing prog.

XMS said:
yeah the PCP&C would work...

How about this: http://active-hardware.com/english/benchmarks/ctcm.zip

Don't hit me if the proggy is a POS...its just the first thing i came to.

Sorry Jim, the file is corrupt.

I'm thinking 600w PowerStream for sure... I just hate to dump the money on it and then find out its something else, though it looks like i have everything else narrowed down. Both HD's just got done testing in DLG w/o errors. So mem is good, hd's good, cpu might be good, psu could be fucked, mobo SHOULD be fine, gfx could be screwed yet it plays games fine.

I'm saying PSU right now.... Anyone else care to spout out what they're thinking it is?

I'd put it in this order:

PSU

Motherboard

CPU

GPU - (normally when these go u either get no display or bad artifacting even in 2d)

Bah! I cant get that fuckin program to run right...

Damnit hafta wait till next friday to get my new psu, how fucktified.
