Gonna cost me about $165 to get a new LCD panel and consume about 2-3 hours worth of time to properly disassemble the damn thing to install the new panel and hope I don't scratch the new one in the process. Oh how fun!

Ok rant over...

I feel your pain! I snapped my old mac book g3 putting it into a laptop case.. cost me 300 quid for the replacement screen :(

If only I could go back in time and alter past events.... I really hate looking at this screen now, I wanna barf every time I see it. :damn:

Frag, knives and lappys don't play nice together! What were you doing? Never mind, I don't wanna know.

That does suck hard though mate :(

nightmare! i'm surprised that replacement screens are available for macbooks though and that they don't force you to buy a complete new one

They just use an industry standard 13.3" WXGA panel which are fairly common on ebay.

I put a 10 cm vertical scratch down my lappy - costing £180 about for a replacement...

Now thats bad!

Horrible to look at

Would it be easy to fix? I feel for u frag

Lucky for me I have experience stripping down Apple lappies so it won't be too hard to replace, just rather time consuming. I think the hardest thing to do in any laptop is replace the LCD panel itself, much easier to replace the whole screen and housing but that's more expensive than I'm looking to pay.

ffs m8. Feel ur sentiments completely.

Apple screens aren`t that difficult to replace once u`ve done a fair few, but in my experience they take freakin ages to send stuff. That`s in the uk mind u.

Never looked, but I wonder if there is a 3rd party setup somewhere ?!?

Wish ya hadn`t posted the pic, it`s sickening tbh. Maddening too. Screen in work isn`t exactly mine, yet *cough* (replacement sent when not required), but whilst I was off for a few days, a fudging gouge suddenly appeared in it "and no1 knew anything about it" - not the same, but it effing

es u off, just a small thing to some, but it`s it`s a mark on perfection.

eff sake.

I'll be getting my screen off of eBay rather than directly from Apple which will save me both time and money. I just need to get it taken care of because tbh i dont even like using the lappy with that ding in it, so aweful!!

Ha, im way too scabby to buy a new screen, even if it had a nick in it like that. Unlucky though mate, hope the replacement goes well.

Got to ask.. Why were you holding a knfie while computing?!?!

If you are like my mate Jon, it's probably because you get too much into it :D
