What I want to know is, how the fcuk can Steam connect via the internet while Windows can't????
name='sai_jao' said:go to your firefox tools>options menu then go to general and ensure your firefox connection settings are set up correctly (try direct conection to the net first) also ensure ur firewall aint blockin http traffik
XMS said:Steam might be using IP addresses to connect to servers rather than FQDN's.
Try pinging 66.102.9.99 and see what happens.

Can you release and renew your dns settings?
XMS said:Still got the problem muff?
Your laptop is the machine sharing the connection isn't it? If so:
Is the DNS server in your network properties on your desktop set to 169.254.0.1?
Are you able to get on the internet ok using the laptop?
PS: I like you're new avatart muffin

XMS said:Here is a couple of things to try:
1. Check that the 'DNS Server' service is running on your LAPTOP if its not, start it.
Test.
2. Remove the 'Default Gateway' and the 'DNS Server' entries from your 'Local Area Connection' on the LAPTOP.
Test.
3. If that doesn't work, put them both back. Then try this...
4. On the desktop, set the 'DNS Server' address to 62.241.162.200
Test.
