I had a new idea for a Mouse.

So I layed my hand flat the other day on my Mouse pad.

And I thought...

"Hey"

Why not have a mouse...I know it'd be big, that fit the hand. Then you could move it around naturally, and comfortably, across the mouse pad. It could potentially even have buttons on each of the fingers if you wanted it to.

The movement would feel so much more natural to me. Of course, people have different size hands, so it would most likely need to be custom fitted, or then again, current mice fit a variety of users...I don't know, it'd be an expensive mouse, no doubt.

But as I lay my hand on my mouse mat and slide it around, pretending to click buttons, I feel like it'd be really amazing.

moment of genius right there, the only requirement is for it to be thin enough to be comfortable and natural :)

Yeah, and I realize by posting it here, it could be stolen, if someone would want to, but as long as it gets made, that'd be cool.

And yes, think so your hand was naturally supported, to your wrist. I was just laying down the basic idea.

I imagine it'd be an expensive, custom mouse, and take some getting used to.

So, like a glove basically?
Like, a, hmm, robotic glove?
I like it!

The only thing that comes to mind would be that it'd need to have mobile joints - I don't think it'd be very nice as a fixed unit.

Oh, and some lasers, with lighty-uppy things on it - Tron style!
Yup, oh yes, I could see myself using that...

I was imagining something more like a mouse in the shape of your hand, your hand would sit on it and have a button under each finger.

..and you've made eveybody that reads this start groping their mouse mate.. or was it just me? ;)

Theoretically speaking, would it not be easier to create a touch sensitive mat that could recognise a difference between shapes then have (thimbly things) on the index, middle and ring finger to associate with the left button, scroll wheel and right button?

p.s i call copyright on my amazing idea (C) lol

Great idea indeed !

ps: copyleft mate !

the only problem is that laying your hand flat ain't a natural position
and there for woudn't help the ergonomics, you thought it was comftrable
because you change your position of your hand (variation) which is
something important when you use the computer all day.
people with rsi have to do this al the time they switch between
a vertical mouse, a pen style,..... .

And if you want an ergo mouse i sugest you get a vertical mouse.
