HTPC OS decision

I am currently in the process of building a HTPC for my living room. It will also be functioning as a home server/nas. Originally I was planning on using windows 7 or 8 and mainly using windows media center as I plan on using this divice to watch live TV as well. The other option I was considering is XBMCbuntu which might be better but im not sure about linux allthough I am very tech savvy.

My HTPC (also NAS, VM host and uPnP server) is running Windows 8 at the moment, and I can't be happier. Metro is very appealing in the big TV, and I think it performs great whatever hardware you throw at it (being reasonable). I could run a linux distro as well, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to get more involved during the setup, upgrades, etc. Not that I can't do it, I'm an experienced linux user, I just feel lazy about it, and for the living room, I want things to work reliably.
