How to stop Windows 7 low graphics memory warning coming up by mistake

Anyone know how you turn off the 'Low video memory, Disable windows Aero theme?' popup that comes up sometimes when windows thinks it's run out of Video memory?

I have 2 3GB cards and have only just lastnight seen one hit close to 2GB usage (nice one hitman!) However with BF3 and other things it occasionally (and in error) comes up with this VERY annoying popup, it tabs you out of game and just gets in the way.

Anyone know how to turn this off (without disabling Aero or desktop themes)

Cheers much

Right click on your application exe file, then click on properties, click on Compatibility, then check (tick) the "Disable Desktop Composition" option. Now, everytime you start the particular app, windows will disable aero and hopefully your performance nags will disappear. When you close the app, aero will be restored.

Thanks Dug, I know about this fix already, but I was wondering if there was a way to just turn if off altogether without the need to do disable any of the desktop themey stuff.
It's not the most graceful way to stop it coming up. (causes a lot of desktop spaz when it disabled the theme)
You would think windows 7 would realise it's got 6GB of the stuff eh lol..

or

go into the action centre and turn off windows troubleshooting in the maintenance section.

i do both :D

to do this globally (win7 + 8):

control panel-> performance
click advanced tools
adjust perfomance and appearance
(7) uncheck desktop composition
(8) disable Peek

Hmm, i've had a fiddle in those settings (which i'd already stripped down quite a bit) i've turned off 'glass' (which i still find to be daft for such a high end rig)...

Peek is off though

Thanks Dug :)
