How to mount a bare D5 pump to photon 170 res

Hi guys,

Anyways I dont know if anyone has asked this before (if anyways has, im sorry however I couldnt find it).

Basically I have a d5 vario pump from my xspc Dual bay res that came as a pump/res combo, anyways I thought that I could screw the pump directly on the photon 170 reservoir, however I cant seem to see any ways for this to happen with just the pump and screw ring.

So do I need to buy and additional top or something?

It is possible because xspc sell a photon/d5 combo but you'll need to speak to them to ask if they can supply the pump top separately.

Yea I already sent them a message, however unfortunately still havent received a reply after 3 days....

Is this res not very popular with a pump directly mounted?

I asked the same question of xspc when I was able to source the pump and res separately and not as the combo unit. The answer I got is that I can attach the pump to the res using tube only as the physical connection of the pump to the res (combo unit) is actually a manufacturing process so that they can ensure that the pressure remains correct.

Can you use the pump as just a pump? If so connect using hosing. Otherwise try and rma the res you have and buy the combo unit pre assembled.

I see, thats rather unfortunate. Anyways thanks for the info. unfortunately I cannot RMA my current XSPC Dual bay res as it is over a year old.
