How to make graphics cards run cooler and quieter. Part 1

I deleted some PHOTOBUCKET pics. In ARICA HARBOUR temps were about 69-72 with the fans at 70%. Now I've got them at 75% and the main intake fan is almost at minimum speed and the overall sound of the PC minght be quieter than before when I've set the intake fan higher. My case has sound-proofing and the door is very effective. My rig has 2 more intake fans, 1 is silent for the CPU and the other is mainly for the PSU. Here's the latest ARICA HARBOUR results with overclocked 480's:

The next 2 pics were before i cleaned the fan dust filter and the 2nd GPU was hotter because of that

I played black ops today, didn't use custom settings and after a few TDM round my room smells of hot chip board from the graphics cards and fan speed is low.

the hardware is designed to cope with heat and my custom setting stops that burning. The fans noise at 70% is quiet for a heard noise here and I'll wear a headset if it's too loud like if I OC the stuff needing faster fans. There's alot to be cooled on the graphics card like memory chips. That's with 1 card cause I had SLI disabled.

With NVIDIA fan settings the whole card gets very hot, storing alot of heat because it isn't cooled enough then when the thing is near heat limit hot like 92-95+ degrees C the fans are sped up to a loud speed, past 70% and that rarely cooles it because there's too much heat stored in the card and the heatsink must be heating the other chips like memory stuff from the heat from the main processor wich is designed to manage up to 105 degrees C and I don't think the small memory chips are. maby they are, i doubt it.

I recently brought a gtx 480 as the it cost sod all after selling my hd 5850 and i havent touched my fan speeds or clocks and i get around 80c on load and the lowest i see at idle was 40c but its normally around 43c-48c when watching a video or summin i have mine in a haf-x i noticed nobody else was giving you temps of gtx 480's so i thought ill throw in my 2cents and what ive been getting bear in mind i have a bearded dragon in my room and his tank is 32c for 12 hours a day so my room is around 27c-28c ambient hope i helped a bit
