How processor intensive is bluray playback?

I was just wondering how intensive bluray playback is in general terms? What would be a minimum required cpu?

A celeron could that,but if you want to use pc for light tasks,an i3 is more than enough.

playing a blu-ray is not a strenious task ...its not somthing that needs the latest i7 to do ...

like said above, a basic cpu could complete this task, it depends what other tasks you want the computer to do at the same time as to what cpu you need.

My old Athlon couldn't handle HD videos, unwatchable.

ill add, it depends on the software your running too, a athlon 64 4200+ DC on socket 939 running windows XP could handle 720p video's just fine, 1080p were...watchable.

but the video quality is more dependant on your GPU than CPU...

and sound, on the sound processor...

obviously, the CPU has to bear some of the work ...but if you have a dedicated sound card, and a good GPU, it wont amount to much ...
